Initially, that is what I thought-especially watching some female Dems in my state and in a few others. I watched a male Dem get shafted to ride in on support of women. I'm not a Democrat and after watching it in action-I was just disgusted by the sham of it.

I think the message is for more women to run for office etc. If certain issues are not being addressed but would have been addressed differently had the elected official been a female then get involved. There is not a doubt in my mind that there are people who will vote for a female candidate simply because she is female and up for election. There are, however, many more of us that are going to need to see a lot more than gender. Either a candidate can meet the needs of the population or represent the needs or not.
