I think Comey is an honourable man, always have thought this. I don't think that he is immune to the politics and pressures, much coming from the left to get their way. This is why he was told, ordered, by former AG Lynch to refer to the Clinton investigation as a "matter". He complied. Under this premise than the Trump administration problem should also have been referred to as a matter, should it not?

He was working in a very partisan environment, it could not have been easy.

I thought the same. Comey should have really have put his foot down right then and there, but it was difficult because an election was going on, Hillary had the current administration and $1.6B behind her, Comey was cornered in many respects. To me, if there was obstruction, the investigation into her was far more overt.

The next FBI Director has to law down the law right away. No interference and intimidation by anyone. The FBI is above this and needs to be independent, and also fair. I think a year long investigation is a long enough time to for Comey to have stated publicly "President Trump is not under investigation. If something changes, we will advise you". After all, he did that for Clinton did he not?

Comey is an honourable man but he was dragged into the politics of his role, something the FBI should never be dragged into.
