A Star-Ledger review of Foundation Harmony, including the application and the backgrounds of its directors, also found that two directors went bankrupt, the foundation is linked to a training school for marijuana growers recently suspended in Colorado and one of the centers medical advisers has faced several allegations of insurance fraud in New York.
The findings cast fresh doubts on how deeply the state has checked into the backgrounds of key players in its medical marijuana program, a controversial venture that has been plagued by problems and delays since it was signed into law in January 2010 .
A Star-Ledger report last month focused on another clinic, Compassionate Care Centers of America Foundation, and its ties to a wealthy Monmouth County man accused of benefiting from a massive Ponzi scheme. As a result of the story, the clinic stripped the man of any involvement, and state officials said vetting efforts were ongoing.
"Medical marijuana is supposed to be an alternative medicine for suffering patients, not an alternative money market for greedy individuals!" they write in the application.

Fake doctors. Fake diplomas. Fake tax status. Insurance fraud. Felons. Ponzi schemers.
Sounds like it will be "business as usual" in the Garden State.
