Might I point out that Poland put up far more of a fight against even more monstrous neighbors than Finns had throughout most of it's existence.

Poland not only battled 3 of the biggest super-powers of the Medieval era, the Kievan Rus, Holy Roman Empire, and the Golden Horde, but Poland went onto thrive, even becoming a Renaissance leader in European science, and music, as well as Democracy, and military might.
