(CNSNews.com) - "The American people aren't stupid," President Obama said on Thursday -- as he insisted that drilling for more oil on U.S. territory is "not a strategy to solve our energy challenge."

The president's solution? Algae, for one.

"There are no quick fixes to the nation's eneergy problem, the president said, dismissing Republican calls for more drilling as a "bumper sticker."
"We’re making new investments in the development of gasoline and diesel and jet fuel that’s actually made from a plant-like substance -- algae," the president said at a campaign stop in Florida. "You’ve got a bunch of algae out here, right? If we can figure out how to make energy out of that, we’ll be doing all right."

    Obama's Energy Plan -- Algae

So Any bets on the new position on who will get the nod for 'Pond Scum Czar'?

We Need a Pond Scum Czar

You are acting as if algae derived fuel is a dumb idea when in fact it is the most promising method we have for producing plant based motor fuel that does not cut into the food supply.

Why would anyone dismiss a multi-billion dollar industry that employs millions and contributes a significant percentage to the GDP... and in the same breath come up with this nonsensical bullshit?

This guy is all over the fucking loony map.

Just a quick google reveals it is already producing fuel at competitive prices and is being made by oil companies.

I just assumed you knew how to do your own research rather than having it spoonfed to you.

Unicorn farts are also a "proven" viable alternative to oil. We just need more Unicorns and a lot more beans.

So far all I see is 17 percent...

Nothing to sneeze at...interesting...but does NOT address the NOW.
