It would only solve some of the problem, but if we were to replace field crops with new food producing trees, the limbs, trunks, and roots of the trees would lock some carbon away from the atmosphere, so reduce global warming some.

Our science is advanced enough to develop any kind of tree we want, so this would only be a matter of doing the needed work.

We would want trees producing substitutes for grains and for legumes. Each has an incomplete protein, missing some of the essential amino acids. However, when both are eaten together, they make a complete protein, because grains have amino acids that legumes don't have, and legumes have amino acids that grains don't have.

To make them easy to harvest, grain trees could have large heads of seed, or could have very large seeds. Legumes could have very long pods.

We could also have trees to produce fibers, trees to produce vegetables for the table, etc.

Humans usually like trees. Therefore, it would also be pleasan living in a world with trees everywhere.
