Dear Parents/Guardians,

We need your help in complying with a new Ethnicity and Race Data requirement.

The ethnicity and race categories are set by the federal government, the Washington State Legislature and OSPI (Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction). As a school district in Washington, we are required to report student data by ethnicity and race categories to OSPI.

You will be able to answer these questions through our Family Access or a hard copy. If you have a Family Access account, log in and update your ethnicity and race data. The window for updating this information is from June 21st to June 25th.

Ignore it, there is no legal requirement to declare a race, even on the Census. Just write in American and challenge them to take you to court.

why are some racial statistics OK to collect and use but other other racial statistics are taboo? if blacks do poorly in K-12, that is evidence of racism (overt or covert)and accepted but if black performance in K-12 is shown to be predicted by cognitive testing that is evidence of reality and therefore rejected.
