New CBO Report: Obama deficit HISTORIC!!!

I can't believe people are trying to blame this on Bush. Spending bills come from the House of Representatives, not the White House, and it was a Democratic Congress which passed it. No matter how you look at it, we have a historic deficit which the Democrats have given us.

In any of his budgets, George Bush never included the cost of Afghanistan and Iraq. The Republicans accepted that. Their policies trashed the US economy. The first stimulus package was from George Bush.

For trying to blame Obama for everything the Republicans have done is simply ludicrous. Even most of them know it. The others just have their heads buried up their a......

Not to lessen the severity of the condition we are in with our deficit spending and debt...

but would mccain and palin have made the deficit in this recession significantly smaller? I honestly doubt it...

If anything, they would have made the long-run deficit even larger by another round of massive tax cuts for those at the very top.

Can you quit being a partisan hack imbecile for just one or two posts??

The skimpy token tax cuts for the eeeeeevillll wealthy haven't added up to trillions in wasted revenue.

Perhaps if you left your worship at the St. Reagan Altar of "Tax Cuts Pay for Themselves" and "Tax Cuts Boost Growth" and rejoined the real world, you'd know what the hell you're talking about.

From your link:

The federal budget deficit tripled to a record $1.4 trillion for the 2009 fiscal year that ended last week, congressional analysts said Wednesday.

Except tax cuts have been shown to increase revenue to the government, not reduce it. They would also have ended the recession a lot sooner.

Still praying at the "Tinkle Down" Altar

How'd those Bush tax cuts work out for ya?? Drove us into the worst recession in 70 years, trickled all those nice jobs overseas.

And after they almost went bankrupt, who bailed them out?

The US Taxpayer

One of your two brain cells not working today?
The tax cuts produced far more revenue than they were supposed to have cost.
Outsourcing was going on under Clinton, who raised taxes. Maybe raising taxes was responsible. The recession was caused by anything but tax cuts. The recovery will be stymied by lack of tax cuts.
Get it right.

LOL....

"Tinkle Down" morons still clinging to the "We would have gotten out of the recession faster if only we had cut more taxes"

You morons almost destroyed this country!

You brought us to our knees economicaly.......you can look it up, it was in all the papers.

We gave the republicans what they had asked for generations....free reign to implement their policies for six years....What did deregulation and tinkle down get us??

The largest recession in 70 years!

Thats why the republicans are a party in exile

The recession won't end until the government stops the out of control spending and sets up a business friendly environment. That doesn't mean laxing worker's rights, it means giving tax and other incentives to business to open here and hire.

It is the height of idiocy to propose MAMMOTH tax increases in a recession, and this is EXACTLY what Queen Nan did on Charlie Rose yestreday, she said 'we' have to look at a VAT tax.

In case you don't understand what that is, its a national sales tax under another name, so if you live in say, NY and pay 8.5% sales tax, that will now be 15% OR HIGHER.

It will CREAM the little guy.

Uhm... jobs are going overseas because of NAFTA and globalization. Who signed that?

Actually those six years were ones of increasing GDP, low inflation and low unemployment. Things began tanking when the Democrats took control of Congress.
You can Wiki that if you like.

How can something that's never happened be "shown" to have occurred?

The tax cuts produced far more revenue than they were supposed to have cost.

Wrong.
Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001: 3.6 percent decline in revenue
Job Creation and Worker Assistance Act of 2002: 0.7 percent decline
Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003: 2.5 percent decline
Working Families Tax Relief Act of 2004: 1.1 percent decline
American Jobs Creation Act of 2004: 0.4 percent decline
Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005: 0.8 percent decline
