That is according to 89% of economists surveyed, including 7% who said it would cause the economy to go into recession over the next two years. 11% said a withdrawal from NAFTA would have no effect. 0% said it would improve the economy. 85% said that the economy would be hurt over the long-run, 15% said it would have no effect, and 0% said it would improve the economy.

“U.S. growth could take a hit as trade flows collapse with some of our largest trading partners and punitive tariffs are imposed in retaliation,” said Scott Anderson, chief economist at Bank of the West. ...

“Breaking global supply chains diminishes productivity and potential growth,” warned Carl Tannenbaum, chief economist at Northern Trust. ...

Seriously Toto, U mad at the net loss that your beloved Canuckistan suffers with the repeal of NAFTA?

All NAFTA does is put the US at a trade disadvantage, especially with Canada.

Thanks, Daddy Bush! :fu:

Yes, crackers know economics better than economists.

It ain't rocket surgery to unnerstand trade deficits. ;)

Which is, of course, why you don't understand trade deficits.

How many steel mills in Canada closed as a result of NAFTA? Many did in the US as a direct result.

STFU, you bullshittin' steer.

Oh! What's that? Canadian steel mills ramped up production? Why yes, yes they did.

Is Toro a secret lobbyist for the Canadian steel industry?

Here, phony, stick this up your brain deficit: there ain't no "economy". There are 320 million "economies" in the US. NAFTA hurts Joe 6pack's economy because it costs more to be an American than it does to be a Mexican. So (are you following, Turds-for-Brains?), if ACME, Inc moves production to Mexico, it lowers the demand for labor in the US, which hurts the economies of all the Joe and Jane 6packs, while it helps the economy of ACME (which is what the biggest pack of phonies on the planet--the professional economists--count, because it's easier).

Maid Marion, you've been sniffing too many fumes from the still behind your trailer.

You've just made the argument against specialization, something that was refuted in the 1700s.

By your argument, no one in Wisconsin should be allowed to trade with anyone in Alabama because costs in Alabama are lower than they are in Wisconsin, and that's bad for labor in Wisconsin.

Which is exactly what happened in the 60s and 70s as manufacturing emptied out of the Midwest and moved to the South.

Nah, he's just another financial sector parasite.

Why do you hate capitalism and freedom so much?

Why do you, with your government-sanctioned penalties on US trade?

You're the one that wants to use government power and intervention like a leftist to interfere with commerce and tell corporations with whom they can trade and where they can invest.

I never knew Toro the queer steer was clairvoyant!

Toro, the wrong clairvoyant.
