My Mom said "It used to be there were two political parties, and you could vote for either of them."

But that was before 1972, when the Democratic Party went, quite literally, insane and nominated left-wing anti-war extremist George McGovern for President.

And my parents, both Chicago Democrats, were shocked and appalled as Mayor Daley's delegation was escorted off the floor of the Democratic Convention.

And they, like millions of middle-class Americans, were abandoned by the Democrats and found a new home in the Republican Party.

Ronald Reagan's platform of a strong defense and fiscal responsibility brought millions more Democrats over to the Republican Party, people who were weary of Jimmy Carter's defeatism and weakness abroad.

But the Republican Party continued to be seen by the working class as pro-business and anti-working man, so the working class whites continued to vote Democratic after Reagan.

But now, Trump has brought into the Republican Party the working class, who now see that a President can be both pro-business AND pro-working man, there is no need to think that one must oppose the other.

This new alliance of business and labor in Trump is what's really wrecking the Democratic Party. Now, all they have is upper-class big city urbanites and the welfare class. People who actually work for a living, white collar workers AND blue collar workers, and the rural folks who run America's farms, are now firmly in the Republican Party.

Yeah, the Democratic Party is now hemorrhaging blue collar American Workers. Trump's 'America First' Anti-Globalist agenda has really resonated with American Workers. The Democrats should be very worried. Losing blue collar workers in droves, is gonna sink them in future elections. Those folks have historically been the backbone of the Party.

"Pro-working man" :lmao:

Yeah until that working man asks to be paid.... and then he be all like

Republican Party is now THE party of the working man - fact

when the union bosses are meeting with the Republican POTUS & singing his praises, you know things have changed

She's right -- it did used to be there were two parties. It still is, but the Eliminationists arrived about 30 years ago. You know, the ones who can't be satisfied with differences of opinion and want their opposition literally exterminated so they can have their one-party state.

Ain't gonna happen. It's bad enough we're limited to two.

Harlan K. Ullman, a shrewd American analyst, once noted that there used to be two parties in America – one had a conscience but no brains, and the other always had brains but no conscience. Now, Ullman notes, we have two completely identical parties with no brains and no conscience, and he questions the meaning of their existence.

America Forever?

I was watching a few John Wayne interviews and really it seems like things haven't changed much..We are still arguing about the same things..

Today's Dems try to save the environment, and , and reps try to use power for profiting off of everyone else

People are sick of the Dems failed policies, a stagnant economy and foreign policy disasters.
Democrats did vote for Trump but after Reps clean up their mess and things improve they'll vote Democrat again because... they're Democrats.

You really shouldn't bring your family into any discussion on this board. The left AND some on the right have no moral compass or boundary
