My modest proposal: Let's end Legal Immigration once and for all.

It is clear that our Homeland Secretary has declared the border secure, not open, and everything running smoothly. So it would seem the Democrats have essentially declared 100,000 unknown, undocumented immigrants coming into our country every month is the new norm. So let's just make it official.

Disband the Department of Legal Immigration and redirect the all of those resources to the border to help make our new immigration process run more efficiently. We have all the food, water, shelter, clothing, medical supplies and health care to take care of everyone, apparently. And this would also remove any suspicions that our border policies were "Racist".

And so what if we continue to see thousands of Americans dying from Fentanyl poisoning, and countless children being trafficked by the Cartels for the sex trade. That's a small price to pay to prove to the world how nice we are.

Seriously, we have more than enough people here. Everywhere I go is crowded; there is no longer any time of day or day of the week that traffic isn't heavy. Everyone is already somewhere, why do they need to come here? Maybe they should just stay where they are and fix whatever problem is there with the support and help and urging of the rest of the world first in making their own places better rather than bringing their problems to us.

Our problem is that countries want to do x, y, and z, but only have the resources for half of their people, so let them live in poverty as an acceptable solution rather than LIVE WITHIN THEIR FUCKING MEANS.

And 90% of the stupid, unnecessary, bullshit programs and spending of especially the Left are driving us there as well, so, Joe Biden thinks he and the EU can pull themselves out of the dumper with this war in Ukraine.

We have stopped all immigration more than once in our nation's history to enable assimilation, which has long been understood to be necessary to have a nation. To be a true nation-state, we cannot be a country of little enclaves of foreigners. Immigrants' first allegiance must be to the USA. They need to gel into our society. With a constant stream of historically large numbers crossing our border daily, they cannot possibly assimilate; the huge influx is, in itself, altering the society.

I agree with OP. We ought to put a halt on ALL immigration, legal and illegal, and it should be for at least 10 years. We should still allow visa admissions in areas where out economy needs them (e.g., tech), but that is it. As a general rule, all immigration should be conditioned upon our country benefitting from it. Concerning the current state of illegal immigration crisis, (1) it is illegal; and (2) any benefit to allowing all those people in here (e.g., labor) is woefully outweighed by the strain it is placing on our resources, criminal activity, and the deleterious effect on our nation and national identity.

Why not? Myorkas keeps telling us we have a new orderly process at our Southern border for immigration. My modest proposal is a logical extension of our Secretary of Homeland Security's claims.
