MSNBC wants to know.

Wrong, it says "for any lawful contact", that could simply mean eye contact.

Immie

Wrong. Watch as the law fixes what everything else has failed to do, that's how wrong you are.

Right... maybe in your little fantasy world, but it will do absolutely nothing good in the real world. Most likely it will spur racial tension and cause more problems than it solves.

Immie

Spur racial tension???? LOL, LOL........nah, racial tensions exist ALL over this country AND world! And....way BEFORE the SB1070.

The only racists here are the National Council of the Race and their ilk, who view illegal entrants as soldiers on the front line in the Reconquista and attribute to this war against the Gringo the same religious fervour and twisted sense of 'justice' Hitler attributed to the war to purge Europe of the Jews, Roma, and others.

BTW, the Newsvine link refered to here was deleted by the author... Wonder why? Can’t question those poor poor “immigrants“, how THEY suffer. Something is out of whack when Mexican "culture" is off limits to criticism, but it's a no-holds bared orgy when it comes to fault finding of "American" culture. I don't know about Arizona's new law on immigration, how about...we try it out first and then see what happens?

Immie

What will really make things worse is if SB1070 does NOT stand. But - if it's not SB1070, there will be other laws enacted that will.

I am not saying you are wrong, but, how do you figure this to be the case?

Personally, I think the law will worsen racial tensions rather than strengthen them. When you start telling people of one race that you are going to start harassing them at every given opportunity, it doesn't tend to make them all that happy.

Well, I don't call it harassement - it's simply a way of knowing who is here in knowing their status. As for it being racial profiling, I do not agree. That has been happening in this country since its inception and nothing will change it - we just have to take care of it when and if it does happen. I really think people are jumping the gun.

I have to disagree with you, but I am only taking my impressions from what I have read on site and a few OPED pieces about the bill.

Personally, I think it is harassment. I also believe there are better things for law enforcement to do than hanging out at the grocery stores seeking contact with every Hispanic person that attempts to buy food, although... seeing as I have a lead foot, I suppose I would rather they were at the grocery stores than patrolling the interstates when I drive through. Except I have no plans of driving through the Great State of Arizona anytime soon.

I just returned from AZ where I spent 3 weeks shopping and visiting the casinos. Saw many people from across the border shopping and gambling!! The media is not reporting the truth about what is happening in AZ - especially the spanish media. I saw it with my own two eyes. Being that I was born, raised and educated in that fine state, I recognize people from across the border - Nogales, Hermosillo, Guaymas, Agua Prieta to name a few as these are cities in Sonora close to AZ. They seem oblivious to what is going on. They don't seem too concerned. As for not visiting there, I really don't think any of this should stop people from visiting. If you obey all laws, you will have no problem; if they stop you because of a traffic violation, they will ask for what they ask for in ANY state - license, proof of auto insurance, registration. If you have people in the car who seem as if you might be involved in human traffic, then I suspect you will be asked alot more questions. Nothing to fear is you obey the laws just as in ANY state.

I'd like to think you are right in that, but I don't.

I can see anti-illegal LEO's (I hesitated slightly from calling them racists, but I was close to doing so) harassing everyone who is of Hispanic decent; making it their mission to clean up the country all by themselves.

According to the part of the law that I read, "any legal contact" was grounds for harassment. "Any legal contact" could mean eye contact and does not necessarily mean the person being detained did anything at all wrong to deserve the harassment.

Now, someone (maybe even you) told me the law had been modified to prevent that, but I asked for proof of that and to my knowledge, I never received such proof.

Think of seat belt laws. They were originally set up so that LEO's could not pull a person over for not having his/her seat belt buckled but gradually that changed so that in many states they can pull a driver over regardless of whether or not there is grounds besides the seat belt.

I don't believe that anybody should go after illegals. That is something that the legal system should do and I think that is what SB1070 will do. This is NOT being racist! That is a term pro-illegals, and illegals themselves, like to use to feed on the guilt of the whites. I don't buy it. I don't think of it as 'cleaning the country'! I look at it as being just like ALL other countries that have strict laws to keep people from entering THEIR country without permission. Have YOU read SB1070? Do you live in a border state? In CA, seat belts have ALWAYS been mandatory from its inception - as are helmets when riding a motorcycle. It seems it's a way of keeping people from serious injury or death. Unfortunately, laws have to be legislated to save people from themselves. As I said, if this law is deemed unconstitutional, other laws will follow - and - the FEDERAL immigrations laws which are a lot more strict and gives authority to ICE to do what you seem to fear, will be put in to pracitce - it's a matter of time. The majority of the american people have had it.

It's a Federal Matter....Sanctuary cities? Oh, it's okay to not follow Federal Law. But making laws to enforce it, bad....wrong.....illegal.

What you think and what happens are two different things.

I am a native Californian who moved to Florida 17 years ago. I believe, but would have to check my facts if it were really important, that when California instituted the seat belt laws, they could not pull you over for not wearing a seat belt. The law later changed as all liberal laws do and in fact, as Obama's Health Care Reform is intended to do.

I've only seen the part discussed above of SB 1070 and if that has not changed, then it still opens the door for gung-ho LEO's to harass innocent Hispanics for simply making eye contact. If you have proof of a change in the law, I would love to see it.

If additional laws follow that protect people from 4th Amendment violations, I don't necessarily have a problem with that.

I really think that ALL people in the USA are protected by our great constitution.....yes, even against the SB1070 bill.....give it a chance. If and when people are pulled over and they are harassed or profiled, they can sue. What concerns me is that the cops will be afraid to pull ANYBODY over for fear of being called 'racists'.

MSNBC consists of talking heads for the GOP. It really has no substance. I'm sure as an educated person you understand that ?

Are you really this stupid in person, or is this just a persona that you place on a messageboard?

FAUX News is the talking heads of the GOP.

CNN is the government mouthpiece (Anderson Cooper is CIA).

MSNBC gets raked over the coals for being LIBERAL MEDIA!

GayBiker,

Im not even going to attempt to point out the errors in your last post. You really are a half-wit.
