I have to wonder how true any of this is. For quite some time I've heard the same about malaria. A couple of weeks ago I watched an interview with the UN's leading malaria expert laugh at the idea. According to him the mosquitos carrying malaria love cool weather, not cold but cool. He went on to talk about one of the largest outbreaks of malaria in the 20th century, in Siberia.
