More economic good news, unemployment rate drops to 8.6%

Oh, great. TneverM will be cackling and crowing about this all day today.

Too bad she won't correct herself when the numbers get revised down the road.

Pay no attention to the christmas ornaments. It has nothing to do with the employment spike. Its all Barack, just ask the lefties.

let's try this one more time for those who remain blissfully ignorant: The numbers are seasonally adjusted to remove the variation associated with holiday hiring

It may be up but just yesterday the numbers said that 406K people filed for the first time for unemployment . Its Christmas time. They hire seasonal work from SEPT to Christmas. Lets revisit this after the holidays

In other words we rig the game the way we see fit. We dont use real numbers we use surveys.

Something like that?

For the intentionally ignorant.

Let's try this one time, from rightwinger's OP...

Still, one reason the unemployment rate fell so much was because roughly 315,000 people gave up looking for work and were no longer counted as unemployed.

The Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate dropped sharply to 8.6% last month, from 9% in October. The rate hasn't been that low since March 2009, during the depths of the recession.

Still, 13.3 million Americans remain unemployed. And a key reason the unemployment rate fell so much was because roughly 315,000 people had given up looking for work and were no longer counted as unemployed.

More than half the jobs added were by retailers, restaurants and bars, a sign that holiday hiring has kicked in. Retailers added 50,000 jobs, the sector's biggest gain since April. Restaurants and bars hired 33,000 new workers. The health care industry added 17,000.

What were you saying?

About to be BUT BUT BUT

The California had emerged decades ago: Go To Public-Funded Schools. Go To Public-Funded Universities. Join Civil Service. Never Work A Single Day In all Your Life!

Keep California Green and Golden: Send Money!

Reagan-Bush knew about California, and created the giant federal deficits spending breakthroughs, for bureacratcy-university-governmnet contractor rich.

Now there is even "Occupy Wall Street," as the counter to all of that.

And anyone was even expecting the former Bush-Cheney Adminsitration to go into this economy, and look for work?

"Crow, James Crow: Shaken, Not Stirred!"
(Household Survey up in recovery mode, now four months in a row! 275,000 jobs or more each month, now on record!)

I was saying that the figure is seasonally adjusted. Because, well...the figure is seasonally adjusted.

"Still, 13.3 million Americans remain unemployed. And a key reason the unemployment rate fell so much was because roughly 315,000 people had given up looking for work and were no longer counted as unemployed.

Employers added 120,000 jobs last month."

So unemployment improved because almost three times as many people stopped looking for work as were hired...and that's good news?

This thread belongs in humor, right

Unemployment going down.

And the same exact thing happened during the Bush administration. There were massive layoffs all over the place.

Remember republican/conservative heroine Carly Fiorina?

Fiorina presented herself as a realist regarding the effects of globalization. She has been a strong proponent, along with other technology executives, of the expansion of the H-1B visa program.[35] In January 2004, at a meeting to "head off rising protectionist sentiment in Congress," Fiorina said: "There is no job that is America's God-given right anymore. We have to compete for jobs as a nation."[36][37][38] While Fiorina argued that the only way to "protect U.S. high-tech jobs over the long haul was to become more competitive [in the United States]," her comments prompted "strong reactions" from some technology workers who argued that lower wages outside the United States encouraged the offshoring of American jobs.[39] Fiorina responded against protectionism in an editorial in the Wall Street Journal, writing that while "America is the most innovative country," it would not remain so if the country were to "run away from the reality of the global economy."[40]

She was responsible for the loss of some 30K high paying tech jobs in the US.

Obama must fail.......so obviously Obamas policies had nothing to do with that. You might even claim that all of those economic indicators would have done better if Obama did nothing
