You know, we're doing something wrong and if we don't take the initiative to force change we will find ourselves in a hole too big to dig out of. when you look at the growing disatisfaction with government over the last few decades it is clear they no longer represent us, the people. It started out with disatisfaction with our presidents, it spread to congress and now even the supreme court is suspect.

Americans were clearly not happy with the Bush adminsitration. The Obama hype of Hope and Change wsa short lived and never really materialized. Its been more of the same old same old. And the numbers continue to show the disatisfaction. Because behind all the hype and bullshit, doctored numbers and the rest of the crap they hand us to try to placate us and ensure us they are doing a good job, they are failing us, the people. We continue to lose ground. Special interests continue to gain. Our rights continue to be stripped away.

What government is doing slowly and methodically is returning Americans to the old company store concept. With big government as the company. We become more and more dependedent on them for everything and as a result more indebted. Government gains more and more control of our lives. reclaims more and more of our rights. Its gotten to the point where we are even justifying it by using rights they took from us decades ago as justification for rights they are stripping us of today. the brain washing is taking hold. polarization is complete. They have created a situation where they can completely fail at their jobs, yet half of america will still suport them and swear they are miracle workers.

We need to change this dynamic and fast

More Dismal Poll Numbers for Obama and Congress.

Unemployment is down, hiring is on the rise, more Americans have health insurance than ever before, and the stock market is near all-time highs. But none of these factors seem to be affecting the mood of the American public, nearly two-thirds of whom believe the country is headed in the “wrong direction” according to a McClatchy-Marist poll released today.

The poll found that only 28 percent of Americans believe the country is on the right track, down from 32 percent when the same question was asked in April. The 64 percent who believe the country is on the wrong track was unchanged from the previous finding.

The times they are a'sucking. Don't expect any Happy Days Are Here Again, again...

fine to believe if your are a pessimist willing to admit defeat. that is not the attitude that gave america independence and made it what it is today. but government has engineered a general feeling of apathy. and that is something we need to break out of and overcome

The government? Try dealing with the cable company, a cell phone provider, your health insurance, any bank, or read the news of the world, or watch whatever passes for "quality" entertainment. America, unfortunately, is getting what it deserves, and no one has the energy or the stones to make a real plan to change any of that...

The politics of division tends to have this result.

And that is certainly a contributing factor.
I think many of the Americans that feel this way are the same Americans who see the American Dream being just that, a dream. As a matter of fact, The American Dream is more a reality in other developed countries than it is in the United States.
America's Middle Class used to be the envy of the world. Recently, the Canadian Middle Class leap-frogged the US Middle Class as being the world's top Middle Class. At the same time, other countries' Middle Classes have seen a much more significant climb of their household income than those in the US.
Clearly, this shows that the despair the American people feel isn't just because of America's polarized political system. The private sector certainly has contributed in a major way. After all, they do control worker's wages. According to the Department of Labor, the American worker (non-supervisory employee) is making less than their counterpoint in 1979 in Real Dollars (after inflation).
But our politicians haven't helped. Recently raising the Minimum Wage failed despite all polls showing that at least 70% of Americans wanted the increase. Considering that raising the Minimum Wage has traditionally had a positive ripple effect on all workers wages, it makes sense for all workers to want to see the increase. Secondly, the equal pay for women also failed in Congress, despite over 60% of Americans favoring it. Now consider how many working families have dual incomes. Of course that hurt working Americans trying to improve the economic well-being.
These examples clearly show, it's not just Washington but also the private sector who are causing this disenchantment among Americans.
All of this doesn't give Americans much hope of getting ahead and for many, it's a continuation of a downward slide.

My non-partisan ways acknowledge that the government is not alone in making people feel like they are fucked no matter what they do. You're turn...

No, at that stage there was a chance they could pull off what they did. I'd have felt the same then...

they were greatly out numbered, they were greatly out armed and supplied. they had no formal military, they were going against the strongest army in the world who was loyal to the crown. they had the obstacle that half of the population here remained loyal to the crown.

today most of the people in our military would not remain loyal to government if it became the people against the government. our government does not have the man power without a draft to fight an internal civil war coming from every point in the nation.

Which, incidentally, is why we should all buy Kevlar vests.
