He wants closer relations with North Korea, his election also could help to deescalate tensions with North Korea.

Moon Jae-in said several weeks ago that if elected his first visit would be to Pyongyang , he's also closely associated with The Sunshine Policy of former South Korean President Kim Dae-jung, the latter was awarded The Nobel Peace Prize for The Sunshine Policy, so Moon Jae-in will probably reactivate that policy South Korea had toward North Korea.

Anything is better than a conflict and a possible restarting of The Korean War or worse.
