(CNSNews.com) - Under the broad banner of "health," the federal government not only is telling Americans what to eat, it's also telling us to make our homes safer.

This week, the Obama administration released a "bold new vision for addressing the nation's health and economic burdens caused by preventable hazards associated with the home."

The project has a name: "Advancing Healthy Housing: A Strategy for Action."

"People in the United States spend about 70% of their time in a home," the announcement said.

"Currently, millions of U.S. homes have moderate to severe physical housing problems, including dilapidated structure; roofing problems; heating, plumbing, and electrical deficiencies; water leaks and intrusion; pests; damaged paint; and high radon gas levels. These conditions are associated with a wide range of health issues, including unintentional injuries, respiratory illnesses like asthma and radon-induced lung cancer, lead poisoning, result in lost school days for children, as well as lost productivity in the labor force."

According to the Obama administration, the health and economic burdens from preventable hazards associated with both subsidized and privately owned homes cost billions of dollars.

Unless it involves anal sex or abortion as a form of birth control, liberals think they have a right to control every aspect of your life, in public, or at home.

How dare the government provide funding programs that help people make their homes healthier. Don't they know that the Misinformation Voter wants their home to be as unhealthy as possible not just for themselves but for everyone else also. If people can't afford to make their home healthier they deserve to get sick! It doesn't matter that the health costs and lost production costs are more than the funding for the repairs, Americans need to suffer for the self-reliant principles of CON$ervoFascism.

They can't address the Sandy devastation but they throw this at us?

This should address both: It's not the government's place or responsibility to build or rebuild homes or businesses in the private sector. Their only responsibility lies with the building and maintaining of roads, bridges and other associated areas of infrastructure. They should do only what is within their purview and leave the rest alone.

don't you dare call Obama and his comrades in arms, socialist or communist though

we get to ALL BE Julias/Julianan...under this administration

whoohooooo, we have now giving up our rights to what kind of homes we want

That's right, as long as the Right enjoys living in squaller no one should have the FREEDOM to accept help from the government to make their homes healthier. Americans can only have the freedoms the Right chooses for themselves, no other freedoms are allowed to be chosen by anyone else.

So you want a home with mold and a leaky roof!

Or you just don't like the government telling you that's a bad idea.

Hmmmm...

I'm seeing an oppurtunity here.

Obama calls a press conference.

"I'm calling on all Americans to not jump off cliffs today! In fact, we are forming a special agency to tell people not to do that!"

Steph: "I'm not letting the mean old government tell ME what to do! Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh"

Steph reminds me of one of those whackos in the 1950's who was against the government putting flouride in the water supply.

How dare the government help us have healthier teeth!

oh yes, and what did we eventually find out about that?

ah but you think it's ok for the government to promote abortions..

We're headed for sequestration, Social Security has no assets, so let's add more government!

Damn straight. I don't want to support other people's unwanted babies.

Oh, what we found out about floridation is that it made our teeth healthier...

It's why I still have all my teeth at 51 and my parents didn't at this age.
