But is it really sad if it is always the case and has to always be the case.?

You do not feel sadness when predators eat their prey because it is not an appropriate response .
If they do not , the whole system collapses .

It might be that our species are subject to the same types of limiting factors -- the top small percent need the Sheeple to feed off in order to devote sufficient of their efforts to invention and creativity , thereby strengthening the species overall .

Namely , equality of opportunity seems fair, just and good but is usually limiting and long term negative .
