Ministers at war: Wind farms could damage rural communities, says report
Conservative Owen Patterson, Secretary of the Department for Environment, Food and rural affairs (Defra) has commissioned a major report on renewable energy and the rural economy.

But sources have claimed that Liberal Democrat Ed Davey, who is head of Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), wants to stop the report being published as it could paint wind turbines in a negative light.

Speaking to the Telegraph, a source from Defra said: “They don’t want information out there that would allow people to challenge the energy solution they are going after.”

Despite the row, Mr Patterson is said to be determined to publish the report.

A source said: “There has been a back and forth with the DECC but we are doing this report. We want some hard and fast evidence about the effect of renewables on rural communities. That is well within our portfolio.”

“This is our department. We are doing this report. It is part of our remit.”
Not at all surprising, is it? The AGW cult can't survive if the truth is exposed.

Some fine meaningless word salad.

But then, the point there was just for you to get your hate-fix in, so I imagine it succeeded. Feel better now? Shakes gone away? Good.

I'm sorry: I guess you didn't notice how one part of the government -- the AGW part -- was trying to suppress a report that showed wind turbines aren't necessarily a good thing for the people who have to live around them.

Perhaps you'd like the read the article again...or perhaps for the first time?

The wheat farmers east of The Dalles, Oregon, love the big mills. As one stated about the ten mills in his fields, the only complaint that he has is that there are not 20 of them. Each one makes him about $5000 a year. Now that is spreading the income derived from energy around to hardworking people that deserve an extra income.

So some flapyap of a politician on the fossil fuel companies payroll makes nonsense statements. Glory be, who would thunk it.

The Secretary of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is on the payroll of the people of Britain.

Just because someone says something you don't like and can't argue against with anything besides emotion, doesn't mean the eeeeevil oil companies are paying them to do so.

You claim to support science. Why do you think it's a good idea for people to make decisions without all the information available? Why do you think conflicting ideas should be silenced?

I can't wait until we have fusion ;) More importantly you can build wind farms far away from people over the oceans...

Why not use a renewable resource?

Because there aren't any that provide a TRUE reliable alternative to what we gots???
I think that's the reason..

You list TIDAL in your wish list -- The tidal plans I've seen are NOT environmentally sound by any measure.. Why do you IGNORE THAT?

BTW --- moving wind to the ocean doesn't make it any more reliable or useful really..
I can show you some of the worlds best sited OFF-shore farms that don't do much better than putting them on less expensive solid ground.

Dave, do you actually have any evidence regarding the motives that you're ascribing to these people?

None you'd accept.

Can you answer these questions?

Why do you think it's a good idea for people to make decisions without all the information available? Why do you think conflicting ideas should be silenced?

When are the left wing hypocrites going to deal with the very real impact of gigantic windmills on migratory bird populations? How many stories do we have to hear about finding the remains of once majestic eagle corpses littering the ground under windmills?

You're assuming environmentalists actually care about the environment.

Such is not the case.

Everything is a balance. This is the truth...

Coal = bad air, mining the earth and the cost of bringing it to the site.
Wind = dead birds, a little bit of noise.
Oil = dead birds, bad air and bringing it to the site.
Solar = covers the ground
Wave = kills fish
Nuclear = depends...The only downside I see is it can link radian.
Fusion = none. Limitless energy for all.

See it is all a balance besides fusion.

Not ALL of those choices are capable of building and sustaining a modern society with.
Your "costs" assume they perform equally well and are completely interchangeable.

Study: Wind farms killed 67 eagles in 5 years

According to some here, this is an acceptable cost.

As bad as that report was today -- what's worse is I know for certain -- that the fix is in. The govt is covering up the evidence and the data AGAIN.. And they are skewing justice in their favor.

It'll be a long time before the real numbers and truth is known.. That's the reality of living in a tyranny of disinformation..
A couple whistleblowers from now -- we'll get the court cases we need JUST TO BE INFORMED of the true scale of this mess.

Just like the story in Daveman's OP -- the new normal is assuming you're listening to Pravda and interpreting any data or assertions that you hear coming out of your government..

Check it out. The hypocrites are _still_ wringing their hands over a few eagle deaths, while ignoring all the sources of most of the eagle deaths.

It's been pointed out many times how this reveals them as flaming hypocrites, but they don't care. They need to hate. They no longer care how stupid or dishonest it makes them look. The extreme-right-wing-fringe cultist hate-junkies are jonesin' for their hate-fix, and they won't let stupid things like ethics and common sense get in their way.
