Sign of the times or just good business?

Tech giant Microsoft announced Wednesday that it will be laying off approximately 7,800 employees worldwide, bringing a denunciation from a federal lawmaker who says the firings expose the company’s calls for more immigration.

The firings, which will eliminate about 7 percent of the company’s workforce, are concentrated in Microsoft’s troubled mobile phone business, and will eliminate most of the remaining employees from its purchase of Nokia’s phone operation in 2013. Only some of the layoffs are in the U.S., with Finland being hit especially hard with over 2,ooo jobs lost. The firings follow up on the 18,000 layoffs the company made last year, which were also concentrated in the phone business.

Care to share how you come to that conclusion other then being a dingbat?

Half of Microsoft's phone sales issues are down to the stupid idea of not adding a front camera to most of their low-medium range Nokia phones, which is really odd since even really cheap under $50 Android phones come with front cameras.

Basically they encourage all low to medium range consumers to buy Android or Apple IOS.

If Microsoft thinks sacking staff will fix their sales, they must be dreaming - as the bad sales start at the top, with the idiots that think designing phones that can't selfie is a great idea.
Samsung and Apple don't need to build better phones, they just need to let Microsoft shoot itself in the foot.

Thats not entirely true. They tend to cut a lot of corners in industries like carpentry, roofing, painting, etc. You might spend half as much money by hiring them,, but youll need to paint your house again in 2 years because they avoided the time and money involved with scraping off old flakey paint and priming the bare wood. In the end you get what you pay for.

Really? Because the IT guys that Disney imported to replace their domestic team weren't trained in even the basics of their job, with many being unable to communicate in English.

I don't know how that's 'better at their job'.
