No chance of an education and many born out of wedlock.

In 70% of cases, those who get the girls pregnant . . . are adults, aged 18 or older. Where does this happen? At home, the place where they should be most protected, most looked after,” José Narro Robles said.

And just what does the government think it can do about it?

Marriage age is 13 (with parents' permission and the girl's consent) so I think a lot of people figure it's okay. TEN???? Jiminy Crickets.

Rural Mexico has a very different culture from ours, at least from what I've seen of rural Mexicans who have come up here to work. Parents want--need--to have everyone be productive. You work, you eat. That's a rule as soon as you're able to contribute. Children aren't kept children as long as they are here. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but it is different from our culture.

BUT ELEVEN? Good lord.
