I have not heard any scientist commenting about the positive aspects of a variant that has a high transmission rate and a low death rate building natural immunity although many believe a high vaccination rate plus high natural immunity is the key to ending the pandemic.

Because scientists, being generally highly educated and highly intelligent people, have an acute sense of ethics and morality. They're not going to suggest people get covid in order to obtain more immunity in the community. They understand not only the human toll of a bunch of people getting ill and dying very quickly, but also the cost to our society of that.

These are subtle, complex ideas that involve a strong sense of empathy and consideration that requires more than two thoughts strung together in a row. These are traits and abilities sorely lacking in our right wing friends, which is why none of them are going to grasp this concept. In fact, they aren't even going to try. I do understand why scientist do not promote natural immunity as the level of immunity is unpredictable and people often have to get seriously ill to develop a strong immunity to the virus. However, science does acknowledge that natural immunity certainly has place in stopping an epidemic. In fact, it was a major factor in stopping epidemics long before vaccines.
