"Obama wasn't even present enough to vote present" sounded as if you were insinuating that he didn't even bother to show up for a vote.

WTF did Obama do? He wasn't even present enough to vote present.
If it was such a great bill the dems should be ahppy to own it 100%.
he came out publicly and stated the 4 points he thought were essential if there were to be a bill that passed. Mccain hasnt done that. I have no idea what he thinks the bill should contain. Do you?
Those 4 points were on the bill and he said he would vote in favor of the bill. Next complaint?
WTF did Obama do? He wasn't even present enough to vote present.
I don't think he was complaining about Obama.. he was pointing out that Obama has made public statements about what was required to make this bill workable in his opinion and all 4 of the points he made are in the current legislation whereas McCain hasn't done anything except parrot Obama's call for oversight and transparency.
I'd be interested to hear what McCain thinks he accomplished with this bill!
And to be fair, y'all, it wasn't McCain who blamed Obama. It was the McCain campaign's Senior Policy Adviser Douglas Holtz-Eakin. If you recall, McCain "doesn't always necessarily speak for the McCain Campaign".
The vote failed today because of a failure with Democrat LEADERSHIP in the House and Senate. So WHERE was Obama during this?
Nearly 100 Democrats voted against this bill! Including 5 Democrat committee chairmen as well as 5 Democrat California representatives. Pelosi couldn't even get all the House leadership to get on board, much less Democrats from just her own state to vote for this bill. Did Obama urge House Democrats to pass this bill, was he there helping explain why it was considered so important to pass, was he there twisting arms of DEMOCRATS to vote for this bill or trying to get included what the reluctant House Democrats would need before they would go for it?
AS USUAL -Obama put Obama first and stayed on the campaign trail acting as if this had nothing to do with his job as Senator -or the fact he is a self-proclaimed leader who failed to be a leader when it counted! If this bill was SO critically necessary for the best interests of this country -then where the hell was he as self-proclaimed "leader"?
He isn't President, he hasn't been relieved of his elected responsibilities in the Senate - and is still expected to actually do the job he WAS elected to do. And didn't bother. How do you think any bill is passed that the Senate and House both eventually agree on? LEADERS in both work TOGETHER. So how can Obama possibly claim to be such a leader? All he really proved is that he is a novice, freshman Senator who is no leader at all and no one even bothered to turn to him for it either -so it isn't as if others in his own party expected any leadership from him. What he did prove is that he totally lacks the experience and character to step up to the plate when leadership is called for.
And since Democrats have a majority in the House -they could have passed this bill all by themselves even if every Republican voted against it. If Democrats really believed this was a bill that HAD to pass -they would have relied on their own party members to do it and Republicans be damned. But they couldn't even get their own members to pass this bill. It was BOTH PARTIES that voted against this bill -not just one. But since Democrats could have passed it even if every Republican voted against it, for Pelosi to claim it is Republicans' fault that it failed is a pathetic joke -just like she is. Granted McCain didn't get the majority of House Republicans to vote for it -but unlike Obama, he was right there doing the only job he as been elected to do so far - trying to work with House Republicans on getting included what they felt they needed before they could vote for it.
I don't know why they didn't postpone this vote since hours before they already knew that at best only 70 Republicans were voting in favor. And if Pelosi didn't know how many Democrats were going to vote against it and that it was already doomed -then she should be removed as Speaker by her own party. Her totally inappropriate partisan remarks before the vote were SO uncalled for, designed to anger the very people she wanted to vote for this bill. That isn't how you win bipartisan support for ANYTHING. And it still didn't sway nearly 100 of her fellow Democrats anyway.
McCain was perfectly correct blaming Obama as part of the failure in Democrat leadership that was needed at this time. ANY bill the Senate wants passed by the House will never be passed unless the Senate leadership is working directly with the House to make sure that bill is in a form the House will pass. And Obama didn't even bother. Yet is out there posing as some kind of "leader". He isn't.
