This comes from discussion back in late 2017 as a Trump administration effort to drain the swamp by relocating government agencies outside of the Beltway. This story stems from a proposed move of two DofA offices, the Economic Research Service and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture. It will affect 400 to 500 civil servants. The IG is looking into it and the House has introduced a bill to stop it.
"Morale is pretty poor,” an unnamed ERS economist told the Post, estimating the resignation rates have doubled since October.
Is the same thing going on in other executive branch agencies? I have a hunch we will see a lot of similar stories before the year is out.
