Marco Rubio debunks "spygate"

Even Republican senator Marco Rubio says that the FBI use of an informant was based on links of several people with Russia that predated the Trump campaign. The use of this informant is therefore justified, Rubio accurately told ABC's This Week:

"As far as what I have seen to date, it appears that there was an investigation not of the campaign, but of certain individuals who have a history that we should be suspicious of, that predate the presidential campaign of 2015, 2016," Rubio said on "This Week." "And when individuals like that are in the orbit of a major political campaign in America, the FBI, who is in charge of counterintelligence investigations, should look at people like that."

The president has claimed repeatedly there was an FBI "spy" in his presidential campaign.

Rubio said he thinks the president and his lawyers are "reacting ... they’re responding to what, what they’re facing and the things that are happening to them."

I didn't say he was lying. I'm saying he is gauging another Presidential
run and gauging his own Senate Support in Florida. He's trying to be
relevant again. Florida has a couple of other GOP Cuban-Americans
that could help unseat him in 2024.

Thus he might take a moderate stance on some item here or there to
see what he can and cannot get away with, or will be beneficial to him
in the future, politically.

Ok, that’s a fair statement. Not sure this is a moderate stance though. Seems to me like the president and his team have come up with a over dramatized smear campaign to try and deflect some of the heat by pointing the finger at others. Spygate?! What a joke.
