I belief the first impeachment was a political error, meant mostly as a warning to Trump, and for “political effect,” though it proved a failure in both respects. The second impeachment after Jan. 6th was 100% proper and should have passed. The 57-Senate 43 vote to convict, which included 7 Republican Senators, failed only because the Republican leadership proved cowardly and gutless.

Had the Republican leadership done it’s simple duty and recognized that Trump was guilty of political “crimes & misdeamors” leading up to Jan.6th, the nation would not now have to go through these trials, and the demagogue Trump would be already finished and no longer a threat to our Constitution and rule of law.

DeSantos or another MAGA type would undoubtedly be running in Trump’s place, but others like Haley would be getting far more traction in the Republican Party, and the unity of the country and its ability to address its many real problems … would be much greater.
