MAGA: The Bone Spur endorses 25-cent hike in gas tax to pay for infrastructure plan. Wheee!

Reagan loved gasoline taxes; the GOP likes to tax consumption at the lower end of the income pyramid, always has, so this shouldn't be a surprise, either. My state govt. really really loves gas taxes, much more than Reagan did, too. Nobody in either Party wants to tax windfall profits from overseas labor racketeering and slave labor, after all., and we now have to pretend taxing dividends going to parasites who do nothing productive for the companies they own shares in nor the rest of the economy is allegedly 'double taxation', never mind they should be paying a premium for risk avoidance for their built and highly lucrative stop-loss subsidy courtesy of that socialist policy of 'limited liability'.

In most of the 1960's, gas hovered around $.30/ gallon. The Arab oil embargo drove it up over $.50 in 1973 and the shortage resulted in gas rationing and lines at gas stations wrapped around the block. The last digit on your license tag determined which day of the week you were allowed to purchase gasoline. Daylight savings time was implemented in January to offset energy spikes. Carter banned Christmas lights and chevy and ford came out with some awful cars in the name of energy conservation. Thermostats were encouraged to be dropped to 68 in winter and speed limits were reduced to 55 mph.
Then Carter's Iranian debacle in 1979 drove prices to over $1.00/gallon and gas lines came back.

Well, those high prices also accelerated the collapse of the Soviet Union, and several dictatorships along with it, so I'm not completely unhappy with them; most of the price inflation had little to do with oil anyway, it was the food shortages that hurt more people. The oil price hikes were artificial and easily corrected when needed; the food shortages not so much; too much of a lag time involved in producing food crops, especially rice and other grains.

Yeah, he wants to increase the gas tax to pay for infrastructure.

However..................he also wants the state and local governments to fund 80 percent of it, with the federal only funding 20 percent.

Not only will the gas tax increase, but state and local taxes as well.

Still think the tax bill was a good idea?

Never did! Old VooDoo and will be proved again by, the Great Douche. Orange VooDoo tax cuts don't/won't work.
That is especially true when you want to increase spending.

Always cheaper, so prove gas prices were lower under GOP control.

What specific policy did Obama implement that lowered gas prices?

Short term?

it must the stupid genes kicking in...

– The average price of a gallon of gas has increased 96 percent since President Barack Obama first took office in 2009, according to figures from the Energy Information Agency (EIA).

According to EIA data, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the United States was $1.838 on Jan. 19, 2009--the day before Obama took office. As of Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, the per-gallon price had risen to an average of $3.611--an increase of 96 percent.

The $3.677 is not the highest gas prices have been under President Obama. That record was reached the week of May 9, 2011 when they averaged $3.965 per gallon.

Granted, back in 2013, gas prices were a bit steep, but quick question for you............

What was the price of gas when Obama left office?

Lets make this super easy. What specific policy did Obama implement that had a direct or indirect effect (higher or lower) on gas prices?
Shell Oil finally got to drill in the Arctic. Thanks to Obama.

Shell Oil failed to get oil. as drill rigs crashed on rocks.

Oh,was that it? That's why it went up?

Or was it down?

I love watching the Trumpsters justify this.

"Taxes? We've always loved taxes. Mmmm... taxes."

Sorry needed some adjustments to your post.

Tax Cuts? We've always loved tax cuts. Mmmm YES,...1.5-2 Trillion in tax cuts."
Tax Cuts adding 2-Trillion over 100 years
to National Debt. And 150 Billion each year after.
I love watching the DOPsters justify this!

How about if we keep our politicians from RAIDING the monies that we've always paid in taxes on gas to pay for other things? The reason our infrastructure is crumbling is that they've siphoned off large parts of those taxes.

It's time to rein in the growth of government in this country. Raise taxes? I'm fine with that as long as its accompanied by getting rid of the ridiculous waste of our tax dollars that takes place each and every day!

Paying middle class workers a living wage would be much easier.
What Middle Class worker do you think isn't being paid a "living wage"?

The liberal notion that you can artificially set wages to "fix" economic issues never fails to amuse! You've pushed hard for a big increase in the minimum wage. Have you noticed how many "self serve" kiosks you're now seeing at Walmart's and fast food places like McDonald's and Panera Bread? Think that's a coincidence?

A living wage for Americans is $18.50 to $23.50 per hour as a starting wage.

Kiosks don't replace employees. They're just a trick to make people think they are receiving their order faster.

No small business could ever afford those rates, if they think they can they’re fucking retarded

Wow, are you ever clueless! Kiosks DO replace employees and they're doing so right now in response to idiots like yourself demanding a $15 an hour minimum wage! That isn't a "trick"...that's a real life response to idiotic policy!

Trump backs 25-cent-a-gallon gasoline tax hike: senator

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed hiking the federal gasoline tax by 25 cents a gallon in a meeting with lawmakers on Wednesday about funding his infrastructure spending proposal, a Democratic lawmaker said.

Senator Tom Carper, who attended the meeting, confirmed a report by online publication Axios that the Republican president had backed the increase. The 18.4-cent-a-gallon tax on gasoline has not been hiked since 1993. The federal diesel tax is 24.4 cents a gallon.

“To my surprise, President Trump, today in our meeting, offered his support for raising the gas and diesel tax by 25 cents a gallon and dedicating that money to improve our roads, highways, and bridges,” Carper said in a statement. “The president even offered to help provide the leadership necessary so that we could do something that has proven difficult in the past.”
Yes......and he also wants to re-institute human sacrifice too.
That’s fine. It won’t cost me more money.

I’m old enough to remember ObamaGas™ below $2.00 a gallon. That was back when America was great.

Do you happen to remember when Obamagas was 4 dollars a gallon? Or you weren't born yet?

Trump endorsed a gas tax. Has the gas tax gone into effect yet? Until it does, STFU and keep sucking Obama's dick and licking Hillarys dried up clit.

That's a fallacy. Name one that can't.

Kiosks used in fast food theoretically allow for faster ordering, however, you still need the same or more people to fulfill the orders. Think about it; you have two live order takers. Now you have two live plus three kiosks placing orders. But wait, there's more! Electronic ordering for delivery with UBER EATS, etc. Aren't you going to need more food preparers and possibly an expeditor?

So now you went from 5 employees to 9 employees.

Have a nice day.....

No, now you have ONE live order taker for those who simply can't figure out how to order from the kiosks and you have the same number of people working in the back of the house preparing the food. The number of orders coming hasn't changed...just who is punching them in! Those order takers who used to work the front of the house are now gone...a victim of looming minimum wage hikes by you clueless liberals. So tell me what you expect the nation's teens to do for their first job, 1%?

If you replace one order taker with two or three order kiosks how would the preparers not be busier? Also, how does the order get bagged and delivered to you?
