They may be poor but they are not destitute. Those that have nothing remain in Honduras. Most people in Honduras have jobs. In fact, many of the people in these caravans are not that poor. The unemployment rate is about 5%. Although the economic situation for the working class is not good, that is not what is behind the caravans. It is the inability of goverment to provide any security from the violence created by the drug cartels and gangs that are essentially running the country. The murder rate in Honduras is the highest of any country. Gangs operate with no fear of police intervention. Extortion and drug dealing is so common that there is no attempt to hide it.

I really resent your malice of accusing Democrats of wanting to be compassionate to get voters. I understand you do not realize how stupid that sounds...almost as dumb as welfare queens keep having babies to stay on the rolls, but if they abort, they are really bad people.
