Under the new standards, lunches for students in kindergarteners-through-fifth grade have 550 and 650 calories; lunches for grades six-through-eight have between 600 and 700 calories; and lunches for students in grades nine-through-12 have 750 and 850 calories.
Requirements also have been established for breakfast, but those requirements dont begin until the 2013-14 school year.

Your parents' possible issues with impulse control isn't the issue. People act like this is something new with the Obama administration. Its not.
What is served in our schools isn't fit for our dogs. I know because I've seen how much of it gets thrown away. Kids actually like good quality food but more to the point, they deserve it.
BTW, this does not really address the quality of food in our schools. Chicken nuggets? IMO, that's not food.
Let's hope this is a step in the right direction. And, rw's need to calm down. If they want to, they can force feed pure lard to them to make up for any fresh fruit their kids might get at school.
