He said that today's liberals are like a man who for years has told you how bad his wife of 40 years is, how everything she did was wrong, or evil or self centered, and you listened to it because you thought to yourself that he really does love his wife or he would have left by now and any time you asked him he would restate how much he really loved her.

You see child --- a Constitution is a blueprint. It's made out of principles. It doesn't involve slavery, genocide, misogyny, and when it's Liberals writing it, certainly doesn't involve gummint übercontrol. That's why they immediately set to work outlining what the government cannot do.

Liberals certainly were responsible for the writing of the Constitution(which doesn't say that all men were equal- The Declaration of Independence says something like it- but importantly and distinctly different:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal"

As for everything else- the people who 'wrested the nation from the natives' were not particularly 'liberal' or 'conservative'- certainly much of the 'wresting' was done by government troops- i.e. big government. Cowboys came along after the nation was 'carved up'. Jim Crow laws/slavery were written by Conservatives- who were trying to preserve the status quo. Everyone- liberals and conservatives prohibited women from voting- but the women who championed the right for women to vote were liberals. Religious conservatives passed prohibition.

Arguably 'liberals' did put Japanese Americans in internment camps- but if you blame Liberals for that(and of course internment camps are a shameful part of all of our history) then you must also credit Liberals for winning World War 2- since both were done at the direction of the same 'liberal' President.

Of course I am speaking to a person who applauds ISIS for killing gays. You have no more concept of what the United States stands for than Putin knows the words to the Star Spangled Banner.
