Life is unfair. Cancer risk reduced for men, increased for women, with many sex partners.

As we know, women who rack up the numbers in the sack face higher risks of cervical cancer:

Human papilloma virus (HPV) is the main risk factor for cervical cancer. In adults, the most important risk factor for HPV is sexual activity with an infected person. Women most at risk for cervical cancer are those with a history of multiple sexual partners, sexual intercourse at age 17 years or younger, or both. A woman who has never been sexually active has a very low risk for developing cervical cancer.

Sexual activity with multiple partners increases the likelihood of many other sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis).Studies have found an association between chlamydia and cervical cancer risk, including the possibility that chlamydia may prolong HPV infection.
Now what do you imagine reduces risk of prostate cancer for men? Having sex with many women, that's what:

Sleeping with more than 20 women protects men against prostate cancer, a study has suggested.

Men who had slept with more than 20 women lowered their risk of developing cancer by almost one third, and were 19 per cent less likely to develop the most aggressive form.
And a totally unexpected finding (I kid) was this:

In contrast, men who slept with 20 men doubled their risk of developing prostate cancer compared with men who have never had sex with another man.

Sounds like the study was done by some clever college guys, in the interest of science of course. Women are at a higher risk for everything, it's not been a secret, but what magical properties would reduce cancer in a male?

Symbiosis of sorts perhaps. Recall this news:

Women exposed to their partner's semen during sex may find themselves feeling happier than those who use a condom, say scientists.

Scientists in the US believe the mood-altering hormones in semen absorbed through the vagina help to boost women's mood.

Semen contains a range of hormones, including testosterone and oestrogen, both of which have been shown to improve mood.

Perhaps a woman's vagina transfers "good things" to men whereas a man's rectum transfers "bad things" to men.

I don't know anything about other men's rectums but can vouch for the good vibes from the vagina thing.

I think couples not using condoms are probably closer to one another and that accounts for the polling. If it isn't on a clipboard some scientists won't get it.
