If you really wanted to fix the Country you would be a tea party activist. If you want to whine about the Country without actually doing anything you could call yourself a libertarian.

Well, libertarian is a way of thinking, not a partisan zombie way of living. Which part of the libertarian platform do you have issue with?

Ahhh...The stale old "general welfare" rubric.

If incomprehensibly vague "general welfare" argument held any water, why would you enumerate the following powers or even have a concept of enumerated powers?

Friggin' knuckleheads.

Strange how ambiguous the document is, ain't it? One might almost say... Intentionally ambiguous? :eusa_eh:

Let me get this straight, libertarians think political partisans who take a stand about their political ideology are what? Zombies? Typical opinion of do nothing phonies.

You have it backwards hoss.

Political partisans are, by definition, not taking a stand about their political ideology as a partisan is committed to a political party rather than an ideology. A partisan will, again by definition, follow and support their chosen party even when they stray from their supposed ideology (hence the mindless zombie comparison). That's what being partisan means, committing yourself not to ideas and principles but to a particular political organization.

Libertarians, by definition, are taking a stand about their ideology as libertarianism is not a party but an ideology and that's what they're committed to. Being a libertarian means supporting ideas and principles not a particular political organization.

I'm not a libertarian, the same principle applies to any ideology vs. party.

Liberals, conservatives, libertarians, progressives, paleoconservatives, socialists, communists, and the like are all ideologues committed to a way of thinking and taking a stand for their ideology.

Democrats, Republicans, Libertarian Party followers, Progressive Party followers, Constitution Party followers, Socialist Party followers , Communist Party followers and the like are all partisans committed to a party before an ideology.

Obviously the party one supports is based largely on ideological harmony, but the difference between an ideologue and a partisan is whether they ultimately support the ideas or the group more. That's just what the words mean.

Why wouldn't you?

The Constitution is intentionally vague General Welfare means do what's best for the country

Nothing wrong with that

The part that gets them about 5% of the vote in most elections. Oh wait, that would be the whole platform.

The libertarians have their moments, philosophically, but if you're a movement with no meaningful political influence in the big picture, what's the point?

what you morons have to realize is that people are not libertarians to win votes. libertarians dont care about being minority because we stand by and support our principles and that is what matters to us.

My problem is when others "general welfare" infringes on my "pursuit of happiness".

Unless you take the full context... wingers such as yourself love to leave all the parts after the term "general welfare" out

I know you're not. For years I've called the Libertarians the Fantasy league of Politics.

You pretend to have a Party, you pretend to have candidates, and you pretend to compete in elections.

And good for you. Fantasy sports are fun; I play them all the time.

You are suggesting that it is necessary for a person to forsake their values. I disagree.
