Was watching a program on occupy Wall Street movement of a couple years past and the contributors made some valid points...then shot themselves down because of an obsession with racism and police hatred in America. Here are classic examples:
Protesters are Peaceful...Police are Brutes: the program interviewed protesters and college professors who blamed the conservative news media (laugh here) for portraying the protest in a negative light as wanting to overthrow the U.S. government. Not two minutes later in an interview a protester stated" the revolution will continue." They complained how the police "pushed them from their homes" near Wall Street. So you have a squatters permit?
Corporate America Pays No Taxes: True. An average person could see validity here. BUT...then the next scene wanted to tie this to the "prison industrial complex" that supposedly wrongfully imprisons Blacks for no good reason. Really? You just had people tune out after that illogical leap.

Reagan's drug war is a flop.....So is his mandatory sentencing programs, I am glad they dropped them....

what does it have to do with corporate America not paying taxes?

How can they not be paying taxes when they want Congress to lower their taxes?

That's what's called a tax credit. It's when they pay no taxes, but they actually get money back. Rabbi complains about it all the time. Well...not all of the time. Only some of the time.

A few points that I find some indifference with. (1) It's not only blacks that are in prisons and jails wrongfully. The Innocence Project has gained the release of all races, both black and white. We imprison innocent citizens all the time. Not everyone that's in our jails and prisons are guilty. (2) Of course the homeless on the streets do not have permits ( squatters permits ). What are they to do, and where are they to go? Families living in tent cities don't have permits either, but they are homeless and have no other choice. If we're going to "kick them out", then we need to relocate them. (3) I don't believe that the majority really want to "overthrow the government", what they really want is justice, equal and fair representation, and equal opportunities. They also want a law enforcement agency without being fearful of cold blooded murder, brutality, and unwarranted search and seizure. Harassment ( unnecessary harassment ) by law enforcement personnel has become a real issue and concern of the general public, and justifiably so.

Now, corporate taxes, and whether they are fairly imposed. It's well known that some corporations pay little or no taxes, and GE as being a prime example. Other corporations pay taxes, but are also given subsidies, which basically means they don't pay taxes as a negative outlay. In addition, many corporations pay very little taxes due to tax breaks, loopholes, and having corporate headquarters outside the U.S. Basically, taxation is a government tool used to extent favoritism, and in some cases, a means to punish. We can look at a few defense contractors to verify the extent of favoritism concerning taxes. One such contractor that comes to mind is Halliburton, Brown and Root. Halliburton has their headquarters offshore, and pays almost zero taxes net. So, no, taxes are not fairly imposed.

NOTE: Protests, marches, and rallies, are powerful tools when trying to make a statement concerning obvious wrongs imposed on individuals, groups, and causes. That is one freedom that all of us should cherish and be thankful for. It gives us a voice that's heard, and especially in today's world of Hi-tech communication within the news media. Through protests, marches, and rallies, we can express our issues on a national and international stage. And, there's power in numbers when enough people are protesting for the same cause.

U.S. corporations pay over $200 Billion in taxes, with the remainder of their profits double taxed as dividends. They also pay over $400 Billion in payroll taxes for their employees. What planet do you people live on?

While that may be true, that statement doesn't include all corporations. Yes, many pay, but many don't.
