LIberal has a different meaning in Oz

When Americans read of Australian politics they need to keep in mind in Oz the Liberal Party is on the conservative side, the Labour Party on the left.

Liberal has a different meaning to people of different political viewpoints.

I always felt it mean accepting a wide variety of views and beliefs. That's why I almost never call those claiming to be Liberals by that label. I call them Leftists or Progressives.
