But my brother says the CEO of Ford who came from Boeing is actually doing a good job. I guess the Focus in Europe is a cool car. So he asked why they don't sell the exact same car in America, and the guys below the CEO said, "because it's very unique to Europe", and the CEO said BULLSHIT! If it's a big hit in Europe, it'll probably be a huge hit in America.

And lets be honest. The American Focus is a pretty lame car. Handles well, but it looks crappy. So expect the European Focus to come to America soon.

We need to stop taking imports in from other countries without tariffing the shit out of them. If you don't make cars in America, then you don't sell cars in America.

Or, if we make cars in China & Mexico, then they should be sold in those countries.

I work on salary plus commission. The salary isn't enough that you are going to get me to jump through hoops, and I ALWAYS max out my commissions.

No, I'll max out. I just don't have to worry this month. Chill out. I'm just smack talking anyways. I did get the call in, but I have to make a certain amount of calls/activities/meetings/demo's every day.

But next year they are going to fix it so people on my team can make as much as we want. Until now I've been capped at $85K. We don't mind because our job is the easiest job. Others can make more but their sales are all new sales. I work with people that renew from year to year.

Don't worry house slave, the man is still micromanaging us field slaves.

But if I don't make another sale, that's my business. They set the rules. I just follow them. No you are not supposed to sit on orders, but I have ways around that. And if they didn't max out my compensation, I wouldn't be shutting er down for the rest of the month.

bailing out a failed enterprise is NOT fixing America.

In fact America is just fine. What needs "fixing" is the ever present and obtrusive government.

Government should stay OUT of business. Businesses either survive or they don't. it's not up to the government to take money from tax payers to prop up a company simply because people will have to find other work.

I have sat and watched the hearings in the Senate and the House intently as the American car companies plead the case for a bridge loan to continue operations through 2009. It occurs to me that while watching them make the plea, they really don't have a clue as to how much money they really need and it's very clear that they will be back to ask for even more money should this money not do the job. The other thing that is obvious they really have no plan to change their operations or business plan to pay the funds back. In other words this money is going into a big bleeding wound that will do nothing but stave off a trip to Bankruptcy Court today. It is also clear that they wish to while making a few changes here and there continue business as usual even though that business as usual is what led them to congress in the first place. While it's also true that the credit market is frozen , it occurs to me that a better approach then would be to federally back loans for American BUILT cars and I mean ALL American built cars as a way to open the credit markets for these cars. There are many soultions that are better than throwing this money into a hole that will be quickly swallowed up. One of which is Chapter 11, which many see as a devestating blow to the US economy. However Chapter 11 is a viable alternative to these companies which will result in leaner and more agile car companies. The argument that no one will buy from a bankrupt car company does not work as well because it did not stop people from buying tickets on Delta , and it won't stop people from buying Chevy Trucks. There are though many alternatives to giving these companies more money, but if it is decided that they should give it to them , then it should start with the firing of each companies Senior management, liquidation of non performing assets, and immediatly implementing healthcare contributions by union members that are not doing so, and also a 10 to 15 % across the board pay cut for everyone at those companies. Further, a tax incentive should be applied to American built car's so things like the Neon won't quailfy and the Accord would. In the end if the plan is to save the auto companies then save them the right way and not just reward them for past behavior.

What people are saying user is that it's a bridge loan from funds approved for the "bailout" . The Treasury has basically been given a blank check to do with that money what they wish and so far the only thing anyone can say about this auto money is that they need it. It it is like the AIG "bailout" then it will be another debacle and congress would be better off if they built a bonefire on the capitol steps with that money at least they would get a little heat from the burning money. The point here is that these auto companies if they do get funds need some very strict conditions for it IMO unlike the last two bait and switch "bailouts"
