Largest GOP Majority in Decades

So it looks like the Democrats are not bystanders after all, and that Boehner actually needs them to pass anything.

Wrong again there skippy, the bill will be brought up again next week and will pass, and according to your link with a higher degree of dem support. No dem votes are needed to pass anything in the house. In fact a couple of the deregulation items were included in the omnibus bill and your dear leader signed them into law.
How were the Democrats able to defeat this Bill?

Simple question.

Very simple, the rules it was considered under. From your link:

"Pelosi is obviously a powerful person in the caucus, and when Republicans bring the same Volcker Rule bill up again next week under rules that will guarantee its passage, she'll have less leverage, and some of the financial reform converts may revert to backing big banks."

Any questions?

Someone tell me again how the Republicans are the ones in the pockets of big business....

Why These Democrats Flipped To Defeat Wall Street Deregulation

WASHINGTON -- Anyone who wants to understand the current state of the Democratic Party should pay close attention to what happened this week in the House of Representatives, where Democrats cut down a GOP-backed Wall Street deregulation bill. In response, the bill's supporters avoided talking about who the legislation would have helped (hint: two big banks), focusing instead on calling its victorious opponents a bunch of flip-floppers.

"They were for this bill before they were against it," said House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas).

Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.), a Goldman Sachs alum, made the same point more softly during an appearance on C-SPAN Thursday morning.

"The atmosphere is a little bit different," Himes said. "I think there were 35 Democrats who voted yes. On similar legislation in the last Congress, that number was more like 75* or so. So yes, there were some folks who looked at the same thing this Congress and thought that they felt differently about it."

* - actually 95
Why not post the actual legislation instead of a hit piece by an unreliable source?

Simply because a few Democrats call it deregulation, does not mean it IS deregulation.

We haven't had an actual deregulation of ANY industry in this country................ever.
Not the point, Dorkwind. The point was that the Democrats were able to defeat a Republican Bill. That's all.

now you're all for Obstruction. You dem/libs are such hypocrites. it's laughable
Do you ever stand on principles?
What is it you are imagining this time?

that's your thing.
I post links, provide data and give evidence. You don't.

No, the point is that you brought up an unreliable source that addresses a meme that doesn't exist, and then attempts to blame it on the GOP.

Thanks for playing.

What's the GOP doing now? Cutting benefits for disabled Americans, and my favorite........bailing out wall street fracking futures!!! Dumb-asses that voted for them.

So the Republicans are going to game the system by using different rules to fuck over the Democrats?

Yep, just like the commiecrats did when they were in charge, what goes around comes around. Ain't life a bitch for you?

Yeah but, they don't like it when the shoe is on the other foot. They all cheered When Democrats changed rule in mid stream... their talking point was: they HAD TO because the Republicans wouldn't just bend over for Obama and was telling him. shove it

Now in just one month they are cheering the Democrats being Obstructionist. Didn't REPUBLICANS win? Now Democrats better get in the back of the bus.

You mean like Harry used to do by suspending the rules and calling for just a simple majority?
Ok

Did either of you ever have any criticism for the way Harry Reid ran the Senate?

The house runs under much different rules than the senate, what they are doing is standard house procedures.

See post #33.

Plus Reid violated senate rules to do what he did, the house did not.

Which 'standard House procedure'? The one which allows Dems to block a bill or the ones which let Republicans steamroll over Democracy?

Reid put a stop to poison pill amendments, that's all.

Abortion extremism doesn't belong in Defense Appropriations Bills. Republicans abused the process by including shit like that and Reid said "no more".

Thank you, Senator Reid!

Are you really saying the commiecrats never ever attached non-related riders to other bills? Sometimes your and Reids hypocrisy are astounding. Senate rules say the rules are set at the beginning of the term and can not be changed mid-term. Reid violated that long standing rule by changing the rules mid-term. We'll see how you like it now that the shoe is on the other foot, precedents can be a bitch.

I can't believe he spewed all that. Democrats are FAMOUS for loading up bill's with useless PORK. They use that as a weapon to have a bill turned down and another is that's how they SNEAK stealing the taxpayers monies for uses they want. we need to educate our citizens on the stuff and parties they are voting for that affects all of our, lives

Look what they did with Obama. It only took the people six years to realize they made a HUGE mistake putting in an Inexperienced Community Agitator. At least they corrected it by taking away Congress from them

Majority didn't rule when McConnell was filibustering everything.

You reap what you sow.
