I have driven exclusively Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep vehicles for my entire adult life.
I enjoyed and gotten good service from all of them and yet have decided that I won't buy another as long as the federal government ( that includes the UAW ) owns the companies. I think that the way these companies with the government have treated the dealerships is appalling. How many of you will continue to purchase GM or Chrysler products?

Just say no to Government Motors and Obamacars

By: Hugh Hewitt

The DNA of America is coded with private enterprise and individual risk-taking and reward. The idea of the government owning businesses of any sort is not merely bad economics, it is terrible government. Buying a GM or a Chrysler is consenting to a massive leftward lurch in the American form of government, a "buying-into" a bought up company, and one gobbled up in a series of transactions which pummeled the private investor while protecting the pols and their union supporters.
Any American who values their traditions of free enterprise and political freedom will urge the federal government to disinvest itself from these companies immediately. The federal government can quickly put its controlling stake in the companies on the market and do so at whatever price makes the market.
New, private sector leadership can then decide how best to proceed in the new world of rising government mandates on gas mileage and hybrid design. The billions sunk into these companies will only be partially recovered by a quick reconversion of the government's ownership into private stock, but so, too, will the bleeding of tax dollars end and, more important, so will the experiment with American socialism.

Well that's assuming Ford can survive given that they'll now be forced to compete with tax payer subsidized manufacturers that will of course have infinitely more political horsepower than Ford ever dreamed of (i.e. "Today in Washington President Mussolini...er Obama signed legislation that will grant a $4000 tax credit for the purchase of any GM automobile").

Do you want to know what I find ironic here , Our Govt. for years screamed and moaned and went so far at to sue EADS and Airbus in the WTO for the exact same thing we are doing with GM. In fact our Govt. was the champion that Boeing had been unfairly treated in the market because they had not been able to be Govt. subsidized like Airbus had. Sort of makes us look a little silly now don't you think.

nobody but the parasites will buy from government motors..

Well if that's true then it bodes well for GM, since this country is full of parasites, just look at how many of them leap at the chance to snatch up the crumbs offered to them if they'll simply acquiesce to the legalized plunder of their fellow citizens under the sword of government coercion.

I wonder what Obama will do about Ford Motro Company and Ford Motor Credit since neither of these took any of his stimulus money, and he has no control over them.

Ford reciently announced that they were going to increase production of F150 pickup trucks to fill the void left by GM and Chrysler, when they are forced to cut back on their pickups.

Also, I do not believe many people will fall for the trade in you older car rebate, in order to purchase a new more fuel efficient one, unless they were already going to buy a new one.

Personally, I now own a Jeep Grand Chrokee and a Chevy pickup, but will not ever purchase another Chrysler or GM auto as long as they are owned by the government and/ or the UAW.

Here is hoping that Ford will not only surrive, but thrive in the new market place.

I have been a Chevy man forever, but own a Dodge ... funny you post this as I just left my buddy with instructions to find me an F250
Screw both of them!!

You only have to look at how happy Saturn employees are to be working for Roger Penske, not Barack Obama.

One suspects that they're happy just to be still working at all, not having to work for the Federal Government is just an extra perk.

Kits ... like what Bikes come as now. Start building your own. Not feasible for most, and probably more expensive in the long run, but I say take a stand, build your own and they can't do jack shit about it.

Unless of course they decide to slap you with a Value Added Tax...

Not me, the government has no business running any business, they can't even balance a budget.

I don't like driving and prefer bikes myself. OCC built an ethonal bike recently, found out it needed 2.5 times the amount of fuel to run. *eye roll* But yeah, if you like your cars have at it, but no business should be owned by the government.
