Jeb Bush laments Republican partisanship - FT.com

Former Republican presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush would have had difficulty being nominated by today’s more conservative GOP, according to Jeb Bush, the latter’s son.
Republican politicians seeking office at any level, from the presidency to local school boards, are being forced to the right by the Tea Party movement, which takes a no-holds-barred approach to conservatism and bipartisanship.

I saw Jeb. He's a bright guy. He thinks there's no room for him in this newly hijacked GOP... not that he used the word hijacked... he didn't.

Hey, Jake Starkey. Why isn't Romney out there saying this?

I think this is telling. Jeb is setting himself up, for when Romney loses, and the recriminations begin, he'll be the sensible "big tent" guy bringing the party back to sanity.

Yes.

Yup.

I suspect part of the reason so many people didn't run this time around was that they didn't want to be associated with (or to bend over for) the loons currently running things. Ya think Jeb or Christy or Daniels would want to have Grover Norquist shoving a goofy freakin' "pledge" under their freakin' nose at every freakin' campaign stop?

I think not!

The hell you say?...All of a sudden a Bush has credibility with the left?!?!?

Too funny!

Much of his lamentation is directed at Florida; LeMieux* & Mack are down & dirty.

*Mew, mew, to me:eusa_angel:

Jeb Bush is NUTS. Does he not know Mitt Romney's track record?

Mitt Romney is NOT a "conservative".

Ronald Reagan would beat Obama by the biggest landslide in the history of politics if he were alive today (and a lot younger, of course).

Jeb Bush needs to go to Kennebunkport and suck in some fresh ocean air.

Reagan would not make it to the convention in today's GOP. He agreed to raise taxes.

Jeb Bush needs to shut up his fatass.

He is a "politician" trying to position himself for some future Senate or POTUS/VPOTUS run, nothing more than a sellout for his own gain.

Mitt Romney has renounced everything he ever did previously. Something Bush-41 or Reagan would never do. (Because they had something called "integrity".)

And that's the point. For instance, when Wayne LaPeirre called ATF Agents "Jack-Booted Thugs" for their actions at Waco (which involved watching a bunch of crazy people burning themselves alive) Bush-41 quit the NRA. That's what a person with integrity does.

Romney just sits back when Ted Nugent, Rush Limbaugh and Donald Trump say all manner of crazy.

Or he' someone who sensibly recognizes that the inmates have taken over the asylum.

Yep and they be the Democrats in Government. We saw them run amok with the Bush administration

Jeb! better take care lest he be branded a heretic and burned at the stake as a ‘RINO.’

The sad thing is the radical right and conservative extremists who have taken over the GOP won’t even listen to one of their own.

sheesh

The Democrats aren't the ones going around calling women sluts and embracing fruits like Donald Trump...
