Lately I've been hearing two arguments about the ACA go back and forth. First, when opponents of the ACA argue that the market should decide the value of healthcare and that doctors should be able to charge whatever people are willing to pay, ACA advocates complain that's an unfair ultimatum. I hear a lot of "It's either pay or die, and that's wrong." Second, when opponents warn that doctors aren't happy with the decreased pay and increased red tape that goes along with Obamacare, advocates of the ACA brush it off with statements such as "What are they going to do, work for Wal-mart?" So, how is it wrong for Doctors to tell patients "Pay this much or die" but it's perfectly acceptable for patients to tell Doctors "Charge this little or go out of business."
