Well....in THAT post, I was being a dick. Good call. It is known as sarcasm. Does the person I was speaking to deserve anything more?

Yes, they do... if you want to be taken seriously and have a real discussion about your opinion on this issue, or any other issue... about the opinions of others on this or any other issue.

If you'd rather not be taken seriously, then your current course of action is appropriate.

Well........I sure have been schooled by the three of you in this thread. If I am to be taken seriously I must be willing to understand that opinion is all that matters. As long as I do nothing but offer my opinion, very seriously, and pay little attention to facts, I will have a wonderful time here.

Please know this........whenever people come here and spout off with tired talking points that are nothing more than half-truths and partisan rhetoric, I will ask for more. If I don't get it, I will, very intentionally, be anything but serious.

I'm not planning on spending much time investigating this pipeline. I am generally in favor of finding alternative energy sources, but I'm just as keen on doing things that can only be done on US soil by US workers. I've no interest in using this issue as a tool with which to batter the "opposition" in this fucked up game that we play every day. Especially if I have not bothered to consider the arguments of that "opposition" fully.

But.....you all do know that you are being played by the GOP on this, don't you?

With all due respect, Laugher? You're coming across like the kid in class who didn't do the required reading but would now like everyone else to fill him in on what's going on so he can take part in the discussion. You say you're too "tired" to find out for yourself yet you have enough energy to post repeatedly? That's the lamest excuse I've heard in quite some time.

As for who's getting "played"? Since you've admitted to knowing nothing about the topic...how is it that you know who's playing who? Duh?

And these are private-sector jobs to boot. Wont cost the Taxpayers. Time to put the political squabbling aside and do the deal. Americans need these jobs. Period, end of story.

The People just need jobs. They're not interested in the politics and squabbling. This pipeline will provide thousands of jobs for many years to come. So if it's really about the jobs, let's make a deal.

The Ogallala Aquifier is one of the largest fresh water reserves in the world, it spans 8 states, provides 2 million people with drinking water and it supports $20 billion in agriculture. The Keystone XL will run right through it. A spill in the aquifier would devastate the people and the economy for way more years to come than the jobs that the construction would provide. People better make damn sure it's gonna work before they go screwing with the risk.

The pipeline is being rerouted.
I had a problem with the original route myself. Strange that the Obama administration had originally approved the route. Glad to see they got it right. Now Obama needs to stop trying to score poliical points and do the right thing.

Well this post say it all doesn't it? You never wanted a real discussion. You are just against oil. Tell me something. If we stop using oil what will we substitute it with? You do realize thousands of products are made with petroleum products right?
What we need to do is drill anywhere we can to get as much oil as we can. While at the same time allow the private sector to continue experimenting with alternative. We are still decades away from any viable alternative. So we need the oil now.

Let's be serious and honest for a minute. If GE or any of his other cronies were involved with this,he would have agreed to this a long time ago. So it looks like he just wants his cronies to get a piece of the pie. So work out a deal and give his cronies a piece. Americans need these jobs right now.

So do Tax Cuts create jobs? Still waiting for Democrats to clarify their position on that. I'll wait for a Democrat on this board to clarify. Thanks.

If the tax cut is actually spent in the economy it does. Otherwise no.
Taxes cut to the workinig class will more likely be spent than those to the upper crust.

Still I am against cutting the SS funding.

I still say...Tax Cuts and Many American Jobs? I'm just not seeing the problem with that. Do the deal. Get Americans working.

I think you are over-reacting. I have admitted to not studying the details of the issue. Does that make a person an idiot? I am uninformed about it......I admitted as much. If I started making statements of fact without being informed....THEN I would be an idiot.

That is what several of you uninformed people have done.
Thus, I called you idiots,.

Please...I'm just trying to help.

assumption.

I think he has trouble passing his poop.

You guys are hilarious. Building one pipeline designed to sell us oil and pump even more US dollars overseas is going to save our economy?

Fools.
We'd love to drill a whole lot more domestically, but thanks to ridiculous roadblocks the government has thrown up, we have to buy from foreign distributors.

Cause and effect, y'know.

NO.

Very few jobs for a very short period of time. The last thing they really want is jobs for us peons. Only reason the pubs/bags tacked it on is they're all in bed with Big Oil.

Stand by your guns Mr. President. Very few people are dumb enough to fall for the pub/bag crap.
This sentiment displays a gross ignorance regarding how pipelines are built. No wonder you're against it.

Yes that poster has it all backwards. It's actually many jobs for a very long period of time. But i guess that's what happens when you hang around crazed Socialist/Progressive sites like the HuffPoop and watch MSLSD all day. You get things very ass-backwards.

I read this entire thread. Unimpressed. The left have 0 reasons to oppose it. NONE, so they resort to silly gotcha games with those willing to play. One poster on the FIRST page was correct when they said there was more to the bill than the pipeline and tax cuts yet no one addressed it. Too sad. The one person that actually offered a discussion point and was the only one ignored.

I am for this bill despite the other items contained within it. I find it ironic that no left leaning poster has the balls to take a position on this poll. Beyond the loons anyhow. Tells me that they would vote yes but they don't want to give the gop any credit for playing Obama as a fool.

You know, even if it was true that it only offered a few jobs for a short time, why turn it down? Are short-term jobs not good enough? As one who has been unemployed, a short-term job is a helluva lot better than no job at all.

Great point. And these are private-sector jobs to boot. Wont cost the Taxpayer. Government jobs cost the Taxpayers several $Billions over many years. Like i said earlier...Tax Cuts and Many American Jobs? What's not to like about that? Just do the deal.

Now it's becoming more & more clear what this is really about. Obama and the Democrats can't possibly allow the Republicans to get any credit for creating jobs. They would rather take all these jobs away from Americans rather than see the Republicans get any credit. And that just sucks hard. 'Party before Country.' That's killing this country.

The idea that Republicans could get some credit for creating jobs is both shocking & terrifying to Obama and the Democrats. Therefore this probably wont get done anytime soon. 'Party before Country' hurts Americans again.
