Atlas Shrugged is the story of a genocidal psychopath. John Galt's poor widdle feelings are hurt, so he deliberately crashes the economy of the entire planet, causing the deaths of at least hundreds of millions.

Oddly, some people identify with the genocidal psychopath.

you obviously never read it. What its about is individual freedom and oppressive government. Rand and Orwell saw the future and wrote fiction about it. Now that fiction is becoming fact.

.
Read the book, the movie doesn't do it justice IMHO. ;)

"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it's yours." -- Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

I agree, the movie was pretty well done, but if you hadn't read the book first you would miss a lot of the meaning.

you obviously never read it.

I admit to not reading the radio rant, but that was just 100 pages of whiny butthurt.

What its about is individual freedom and oppressive government.

If my choices were "kill a billion people" or "accept a bit of oppression", I'd choose the latter, being that I'm not a genocidal psychopath.

Rand fans all choose the mass murder option.

Plutocratic Pirates' Parrot

John Galt was a pushover who, at first, was meekly willing for the corporate parasites to completely own his patent. Even worse, their heirs, who didn't even have the King Ape claim his slavemasters had. He only took what should have been mostly his own property back when the heirs started preaching socialism. That, by the way, goes against Lizardtarian preaching that the rich can even blow their money on charity as long as "It's Their Money." Rand's opponents only attack her on Preppy Progressive grounds, not on her worship of corporate bullying of creative people.

Even her choice of a mythological hero indicates her brainless submission to predatory plutocrats. Atlas was a mindless hulk who held a jungle world, war of all against all, on his shoulders, a world where man would have soon gone extinct. If she hadn't been such a Capitalist Statism mirror-image of Stalin, she would have chosen Prometheus as her mythological role model.

Ayn Rand was s selfish bitch who couldn't get over herself.
She was Alan Greenspan's inspiration for allowing the Housing Bubble to almost destroy the planet's economy.

John Galt fled society because he invented a new source of energy, and the people in power did everything they could to prevent the new source of energy from being produced for the sake of protecting the old sources of energy.

Whoa!!! Life really is imitating art!

nothing in your post is true. Are you snorting coke? No one wants to kill a billion people. WTF is wrong with you?

Trump, and most intelligent human beings, believe that we should be pursuing all forms of energy, fossil fuels and alternates of all kinds. When the alternatives become financially viable the free market will take over and they will be available to everyone. Having governments throw money at it only creates more Solyndras.

Spending trillions to maybe reduce the temperature of the planet .03 of a degree is just plain stupid.

But on that topic, how do you measure the temperature of a planet? How do you do it to the tenths of a degree? Manmade climate change is a hoax and a fantasy.

"Virgins"??? I thought Cato was a "think tank". [emoji57] I read Rand's books in high school, grew up and moved on.

Funny thing is, Rand was a nazi and believed in the right to abortion. LyinRyan, who still jerks off to a photo of Rand, wants to end all social and entitlement*** programs, doesn't want to admit she and her husband both got SocSec.

*** RWNJs, please try to remember the definition of the word "entitlement".

it's a story, some will miss the metaphoric points. no genocide, chicago right this minute is genocide, i doubt obama, the community organizer, and michelle robinson will never visit those bad areas again.
atlas shrugged is about groupthink with the arc of socialism. redistribution as a political goal for the left. rand simply embedded those elements into a fabulous story.

house of cards should resonate about the same for liberals. but both are true to life right now.

Atlas Thugged

She had a criminal mind and a desperate need to glorify Greedhead looters. She appeals to pathetic nobodies who want justification to make as much money as they can, as quickly as they can, any way they can, walking tall by walking all over people.

Her favorite slur is "moocher," yet she has no problem glorifying HeirHead parasites. At least she told the truth by making the main Socialists in her book rich kids. But she felt they were driven by guilt instead of by a drive for extending their unearned hereditary power by misleading the common people. In an atheist's superstition anointing them as God's favorites, her goal was to appeal to the spoiled brats to not feel guilty about anything and assert themselves as inheriting superior genes, so that whatever their greediest materialistic urges told them to do must be what they, and only they, deserve to do.
