Israel invades Iranian airspace with F-35s

I agree...

The Israelis have also used their version of the F-35 effectively against Syria, so we also have seen them used in direct combat now...

Looks like they could be very effective if the situation with Iran heats up...

Weird. Israeli planes entered and exited Iranian airspace undetected. Yet, a General was fired for hiding something that he wasn't aware of. Is this credible?

One of the sources reported that Iran’s air defense system, including its Russian radar, did not detect the entry and exit of the fighter planes, and that Ismaili hid this information from the supreme leader to cover his service failure.
Israeli Air Force's F-35 Stealth Fighter Went Into Iran's Airspace: Report

I'd feel better if they built a few hundred more F-22's

The money's already there.....If we werent caring for so many illegals

The F-22 is one generation too old already. It's having trouble with less than a 50% sortie rate. It's the worst sortie rate of all the US Fighters. Most US Fighters hover right around 70% and that includes the F-35A. The F-35E has almost an 80% sortie generation rate. The problem is, the stealth coating is painted on. When it gets damaged (and it gets damaged just flying it around) you have to take the whole F-22 to a special paint shop and they have to strip the covering and reapply it and allow it to cure. The F-35 has the stealth baked in in panels. You remove the damaged panel, install a new one and then ship just the panel in for repair. Also, the F-35 is designed with empty spaces for upgrades. The F-22 doesn't have empty spaces. In order to upgrade the F-22 you have to upgrade the entire system. With the F-35, you install the new hardware and tell the rest of the bird it's there.

It would cost more to bring the F-22 up to date than if they built a whole new Gen 6 Fighter. And they are working to introduce a Gen 6 fighter where it steals the F-22 blind and uses the construction of the F-35 so that the new bird can be upgraded in the field by the ground crew. Part of a fighters life is being able to fly multiple sorties in any given day. The F-35 can do 2 and 3 while the F-22 is lucky to do even one.
