Stossel: Is 2018 the Year of the Libertarian Party?
Libertarians are like house cats; completely convinced of their own independence, yet wholly dependent on others to survive.
Because, fuck the Libertarian Party?
I am ambivalent about the LP. They strike me as a bunch of propellorheads.
Nevertheless, I have a pretty wide libertarian (small l) streak. I was a follower of William F. Buckley, after all. And Reagan.
However, the LP is horribly unrealistic and completely ignorant of human nature. If I was to choose one word to describe them, it would be "naive".
There is one thing about Libertarians I have always admired and respected. They are fiercely devoted to their principles. Often to the point of self-destructiveness.
You just can't say that about modern day Republicans or Democrats. And you sure as shit can't say that about pseudocons.
Yeah, like how my cat is fiercely devoted to chasing the laser dot...until he decides he doesn't care about it anymore. Libertarians are the same way.
I have never seen a Libertarian stop caring. Ever.
If you are thinking of Rand Paul, he has always struck me as someone who is a Libertarian just to make his daddy happy.
People who are principled have my respect, even if I don't agree with their principles.
I think most non-partisan people prefer their government to be primarily interested in promoting individual liberty above all else. It's annoying to watch the partisans (especially on this board) go back and forth on bullshit that doesn't really matter, except to score political points to influence the votes of the hopelessly uninformed.
No... What the fuck was that Johnson embarrassment?
Maybe if they had more members like Trump - who actually like to win.
