THOUGHTS FROM AN INDEPENDENT:

Judging by the tone of all these posts (which seem to be about 70% Conservative) I'm struck by the fact that very few people here are are discussing political issues. Most are simply recycling talking points from their chosen media outlets such as FOX News and CNN, as well as spewing hateful remarks at the "other side" simply to try to gain a following, or to accumulate trophy points. Is this what people do for entertainment these days? Have political discussions and formal debates been replaced with verbal pissing contests that resemble the Jerry Springer and Howard Stern Shows? Where do we go from here? Fake fights? 60 foot paper snakes? Jello Wrestling? Is this what passes for political discussions now?

IMHO its all about the individual posters. Some are careful and thoughtful debaters who use credible sources to make their points, others use name-calling, ridicule, and memes to insult the opposition's claims, aka "flamers". There may be more flamers on this board than intellectuals, but there are usually enough serious debaters to keep your interest.
