The Truth Will Set You Free
    March 11, 2005
    By Greg Crosby

http://www.NewsAndOpinion.com | The following items are true. Some may surprise you. Some may shock you. Some may sound absolutely contrary to what you thought to be true. But every one listed here is definitely true and verifiable. If you don't believe me …look it up for yourself.

The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV was Fred and Wilma Flintstone.

Senator Joseph McCarthy, the man who is often credited as being the paranoid leader of the Communist witch hunts throughout the motion picture industry in the fifties, actually had NOTHING to do with the investigations into Hollywood. The show biz investigations were carried out by the House of Representatives. Joe McCarthy was concerned only with Communists or Communist sympathizers in government.

It is impossible to lick your elbow.

The first novel ever written on a typewriter was Tom Sawyer.

According to an Associated Press poll released March 1, Americans favor displaying the Ten Commandments on the grounds of government buildings by a huge margin. The survey asked, "Do you believe the display of the Ten Commandments ought to be allowed on government property such as courthouses, or not?" More than three-quarters — 76 percent — said "yes." Another 23 percent said "no," and 1 percent weren't sure.

Some California State University campuses (Cal State, Chino and Cal State, LA to name two) did not have Presidents' Day off, but will have Cesar Chavez's birthday off on March 31.

Bulletproof vests, fire escapes, windshield wipers, and laser printers were all invented by women.

Profiles in Courage, the 1956 book that won John F. Kennedy the Pulitzer Prize was written by others, in particular by speechwriter Ted Sorensen

A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.

Jimmy Carter was the first U.S. president to have been born in a hospital.

The sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog." uses every letter in the alphabet. (Developed by Western Union to test telex/twx communications)

In the 1980s,what liberals like to refer to as the "decade of greed," charitable giving grew at a 55 percent faster annual rate than the rate at which it had grown over the previous twenty-five years.

The unassimilated radicalized Muslim immigrant populations in Europe keep growing at a staggering rate. According to some projections, the population in the European Union will be 40 percent Muslim by 2025. Right now in England, more people attend Friday prayers at British mosques each week than Sunday service at Christian churches.

America has its own immigration problems — it is estimated that there are between 10 to 12 million illegals in the U.S. most of which are Mexican. The drain on public services, hospitals, and schools is bad enough, not to mention what all the cheap labor is doing to the job market for U.S. citizens. The "undocumented workers" account for a $1 trillion black market!

According to a UPI story, Atheism is in decline worldwide as a theoretical position. It seems that God's death has been greatly exaggerated.

All you need to know about the United Nations is this little fact: The U.N. flag in front of the building in New York was lowered to be flown at half staff for the death of Yassir Arafat, but not the passing of Ronald Reagan!
