An Indiana cop in the college town South Bend was standing out taking a report of a vandalism when a car of unidentified domestic terrorists tried to assassinate him in a drive by shooting. They missed...Thank God.

I think cops laying off the bullshit car stops and other petty stuff will help a lot to take the heat off them. Focus on real crime and people who hurt other people.

Police supervisors need to back off on the "productivity" pressure -- especially where the drug war nonsense is concerned. If someone is distributing to kids, bust him. Aside from that, lay off the drugs. It's not helping anything.

People like cops who know when it's best to look the other way.

Anyone who wonders where the hatred of police comes from should watch the TV "ride-along" reality series, COPS. A probable tragedy resides in the likely fact that those cops who are being assassinated are comparatively decent individuals who derive no pleasure from inflicting pain as do the ones who gave rise to this season of hatred.

I believe most cops are decent individuals. But some are miserable, sadistic bastards who give the job a bad name. It really is up to the supervisory levels of the job to do away with the Blue Wall of Silence which is largely responsible for what we're seeing today.
