The NYT has done an excellent piece of work.. This is very informative.

Excerpt:

Diana Buttu, a lawyer who has been studying West Bank work conditions, and other boycott supporters acknowledged that the settlement industry provided important economic opportunities for Palestinians even as it challenged their national aspirations. The deeper problem, she said, was that the Palestinian minimum wage was $410 a month, compared with Israel’s $1,217, and most Palestinian workers lacked pensions, vacation days and disability insurance — factors she and others say are the fault of the Palestinian Authority as well as Israel.

Take time to read this balanced report.

IMO its describes the reasons that boycott of Israel is a lousy idea.

Sounds like current day US.
Mexicans in US make about $1,000.00/Month...lucky bastard!

Is that $410.00 US or Shekels, as in $1,200.00?

Boycott of the settlements is a good idea.

I don't think so.. Those who will suffer will be the Palestinians.

If you buy an orange or flowers from Israel.. or olive oil.. it was produced by Palestinians.

Same with apples from the Golan... Druze grow them, but no one can buy or sell without an Israeli middle man.

The article says dollars.

Palestinians are not Mexicans.. They are not illegal aliens.. They have lived in Palestine since Roman times.

That's why I started with, "Sounds like current day US.".
The US economy sucks for the average US citizen.

What are you talking about? The Jewish Socialists and Bolshevics from Eastern Europe and Russia completely failed as farmers.. 6,000 of them went home in the first decade.

You are an ignorant person who shoots off his mouth.

Im sure some blacks suffered due to the boycott of South Africa.

But it was still worth it.

No wonder Israel is such a backwards nation.

LISTEN to the language of those who actually want a just peace in Palestine.

Yeah, palistanian 1001 agribusiness tall tales, of course.

There are still some Israeli kibbutzim (farms) around. I picked a few oranges there myself. Also, Sharona, I've noticed that you only mention Palestine in your posts, as if the State of Israel doesn't exist. Why is that?
