Illinois goes Third World - Gives lottery winners IOUs instead of cash!!!

Another Lie by the OP

Illinois is not bankrupt; they haven't passed a budget that funds such payments. They are nowhere near bankrupt.

Electing a GOP governor was their first mistake quite obviously....This didn't happen under previous administrations TTBOOK

Are you saying that lottery is funded by the state budget?

No but usually money spent on a state lottery is sent into the state coffers to support education, etc....

Thats not what you said above. You said they have not passed the budget to fund lottery payments. Lottery money is not part of the budget. Imagine people stop playing lottery. Where would money for education come from? Would be silly to close schools for lack of funding because people didn't buy a ticket.
And they won't. When people start hearing that payouts are iffy, the state lottery will dry up like an 80 year old nun.

You really believe that garbage you spew, don't you? Illinois is in dire straights, it's one reason we moved out of the god forsaken shit hole

Gee, we had a friend go to a family reunion up there last month; no problems. I caught a plane in Denver that came from Chicago on the way to San Diego a few weeks back, the passengers remaining on the 737 didn't look too beat up. Cubs are doing well--30-40 Thousand in their stands every game.

HAHAHA. Did you really say that? The state is in fine shape because people are still attending cubs games? HAHAHA

What? illinois is a disaster area...Chicgo and so many cities in it are near bankruptcy but illinois don't have a law that let's them do it like New York city did it in the 70s and now Detroit. I don't even by the constitution a state can declare bankruptcy.

Wrigley field is full even when they are in last place.

Talking fiscal / unfunded pensions, the Illinois SC saved the Union pension and screwed over the state.

Since 30-40,000 people are showing up to watching a bunch of millionaires who live in Illinois play other millionaires visiting Illinois and sometimes paying several thousand dollars for their tickets for the season to do it (the same thing happens on the South side) ditto the Bears, Ditto the Bulls, Ditto the Blackhawks...its hardly the hallmarks of a disaster area.

BTW...my old friends in the Harris County Health system saw their State of Texas pension reduced 1% to 6% from 7 a few years back. Seems the State was having trouble meeting the 7% withholding standard and the County (despite 3 new stadiums) was having trouble chiseling out enough money for a raise for 3 years so they "let" the employees keep 1 more percent of their pay as a raise.

You want to talk hell hole; scientists confirm that if the world needed an enema, they should stick the nozzle in the governor's mansion in Texas.

It would also be silly to not plan for something then come back 10 months later and decide you can't afford it. Hence the word "budget". You set a spending plan for a period of time and act accordingly. Lottery monies are part of it. You're the only one talking about closing schools. The OP is the one lying about bankruptcy.

Its a good example of why you don't elect republicans.

You're the one saying that lottery supports education. Where Illinois education was getting money from before Illinois lottery begin selling tickets in '74? Lottery payouts have nothing to do with the budget. More money is coming in the lottery they they pay out of it, so pay the freaking money. Or shut it off.

Oh brothers.

No, I said that the lottery is often used to support stuff like education...you should feel free to re-read my post.

So...what you're saying is that the Illinois Lottery has zero to do with The Illinois State Budget. Makes you wonder why they authorized a lottery in the first place.

Good move........unless it was to Juarez. I wonder why 'Mr. H' is still there.

They're bankrupt you fool and all this budget talk is a lie. It's not like the state was hit by an earthquake. They knew the lottery payouts would come due and they have to allow for it. They just don't have the money.

Is illinois still giving out welfare checks to their deadbeats? If anyone should get stiffed, it should be the welfare bums.
