If we are going to venerate a confederate General, why not Longstreet?

He didn't own many slaves, as opposed to lee, who ownd 200+ For him, it was a matter of nationalism rather than economics. (Mosby was another who owned none at all and had a reputation as an abolitionist prior to the war)

He was a whole lot smarter than Lee. He argued against the whole Pennsylvania adventure. He became a goat for those who were lost cause nincompoops. Not while Lee was alive, he had too much veneration for Pete.

Longstreet was a cousin by marriage of Grant. Grant gave him some appointments during his administration. He was famous for standing up for Grants policies of bi racial, putting his life on the line.

If Lee would have listened closer to Longstreet at Gettysburg, things may have turned out differently for the US for 100 years to come, maybe more
