If Sleep Deprivation is now to be known as torture, what is cutting off fingers and the like?

If we're going to call 'stress' torture, we're going to need a new word to convey what we used to call torture.

Because they're not the same...

Which means that we can't use stress to convey discomfort... so what word should be used to convey THAT?

Seems that once again, allowing the intellectually less fortunate to speak, causes chaos... .

Are we sure that this is a good idea?

You have been given numerous links to the legal definition of torture and the various types of methods that qualify as torture in many threads on this subject. You seem obsessed with torture, but unwilling or unable to comprehend the basic definition of what torture is. There are others following in your dopey way of thinking and refusal to confront reality, but like previously stated, you seem obsessed with being stupid and uninformed.

If sleep deprivation is torture then Bill Clinton and Janet Reno are guilty of inflicting torture on American citizens at Waco in 1993. One of the tactics they used at the Branch Davidian compound was playing relentless loud music at night depriving the women and children of sleep.

"If Sleep Deprivation is now to be known as torture, what is cutting off fingers and the like?"

Sleep deprivation has always been torture, along with water boarding – you and others on the right are only questioning it now in an effort to deflect from the Senate report reflecting poorly on republican officials and a republican president, under whose administration torture occurred, including sleep deprivation.

And that one type of torture is more extreme and violent than another doesn't mitigate the fact that the act in question is indeed torture.

What's even more reprehensible than your failed effort to deflect is your effort to portray some manifestations of torture as somehow 'acceptable,' where this criminal practice should continue to be used.

Sleep deprivation has always been torture, along with water boarding –

Has it? You're basing this on what? That such induces discomfort?

The fact is that it inducing discomfort is not torture. It never has been, never will be and this is because it does not injure the subject of such.

If you'd like to get a personal demonstration of torture, I'd be happy to demonstrate what torture is. There's some forms you'll need to fill out, along with some video professions stating that you are of sound mind and are intentionally setting about to have yourself severely injured and that you understand that such may, very likely result in your premature death.

Such will include... the removal of mos, if not all of your limbs, your bowels.... and the majority of your skin.

Prior to that, there will be large holes drilled into your primary joints and toward the end there... your spine will be severed from your head, with a 25lb sledge hammer. But only after said hammer is used to tenderize your genitals.

Or... you could get a demonstration of stressed induced discomfort. Where you'll be forced to stand for 150 continuous hour, while nude... in a very hot room, on top of several other cretins... while wearing a dog collar.

Your call. And just so ya know... I'm good either way.

And just so ya know, the former is violent, resulting in severe bodily injury and usually... death. The latter is not.

And THAT is the difference between torture and NOT-Torture.

See how that works?

I find it curious

In the movie Stalag 17, the evil Nazis torture an American pilot by forcing him to stand and not be allowed to sleep. Such treatment of an American seemed outrageous

Now we have conservatives squealing....what's a little sleep?

ROFLMNAO!

Adorable...

Yeah... the Nazis also invaded other nations. So we shouldn't do that too... and Nazis shot and killed their enemies, so... naturally, we don't want to be Nazis, so we can't shoot at out enemies.

See how that works kids?

Of course the Nazis also had universal healthcare. Union Labor... Minimum Wage... and substantial federal subsidies to sustain the po'.

Nice tap dancing there pal

Nazis using sleep depravation against a US soldier is torture but it stops being torture if Conservatives do it?

Proving that liberals' word view is shaped by movies and works of fiction.
Conservatives' world view is shaped by facts and history.

Post WWII America was shocked that Nazis would use such techniques against Americans.......Fucking Nazis
Post 9-11 Republicans use the same techniques.......Fucking Republicans

So no matter how long someone was forcibly sleep deprived, you would never concede that the person was being tortured?

lol, you Nuts try too hard...

You are exactly correct. This stupid fuck whursmykeys seems to have no idea that there are extremes of any actions. Including torture.

It's kind of sick that there are Americans who support torture. Fucking pieces of shit is what they are.

As Americans look for a humane way to execute people others look for a humane way to torture. We need a torture that, when done, the torturees do not know they have been tortured. Perhaps some political speeches or movies would work?

Another example of rightwing ineptness when it comes to equivalencies

Torture now equates to a bureaucrat shooting his mout off

It's tit for tat. If Japanese torture of Americans by stuffing them with water and jumping on them is equated to putting a wet cloth over people's mouths then that is true moral equivalence.
Sucks, dontit?
